Feeding Ribs.

I have always given my dogs elk, deer and beef meaty ribs as part of their feed. My previous dogs would chew them up really well and eat them in pieces. My current boerboel though will occasionally break a 7-8in rib into 3 chunks that are still connected by meat and then swallow it. Has any one else had a dog eat ribs that way and did you encounter any issues from it?

As long as they are raw, should not be a problem. The stomach acid will take care of the bones. Titan used to eat chicken legs after 1-2 chomps. I used to freak out when I would hear 1 chomp, another chomp and then swallow.

Just keep an eye on the stools. If you see excessive bone matter or red streaks you may want to stop giving rib bones. My older dog Dozer used to do this and I never had an issue with it. Jade will do it sometimes as well but she gets bored with the chewing and lets Odi have them now. He just gnaws on the bones for hours until I lose my mind and take it away.
