I miss feeding raw actually although I don't miss the flies, lol. Now that I know a little bit more about raw feeding regimine.

This is why we are most likely going to switch to raw when we move and get settled. We have no sources of meat here but should when we move.

Have you looked at Hare Today Gone Tomorrow? Per pound her prices are comparable or better than what I can get at my locally (at least for the things that are comparable). Gotta pay shipping true, but MA is close enough to PA that shipping shouldn't be HORRID. I use her stuff to fill in the cracks of what I can get locally.

I have but besides having no local sources we have no freezer and no room for another freezer here. Thanks though!

No problem, come to think VA isn't that far either lol. Her customer service is great too, I emailed her before I ordered the first time because my little guy appears to not be able to tolerate poultry (I'm not sure thats the actual problem, but avoiding poultry in any form appears to avoid the symptoms anyway), and so I had questions as to her processing. She was very quick to respond, and make suggestions as to what might work and might not work.

Yah, if we didn't have a seperate freezer I don't know that I could do raw at all. That freezer makes a huge difference!

So what can I feed that won't cost more than TOTW? It could cost a little more if it's higher in cal so I feed less... Needs to be grain free, chicken free, not ridiculously high in protein (under 30% preferably), and appropriate for at 12 month old Mastiff?

Well I'm glad we switched. On our 4th bag of blue buffalo now and they love it. They burnt out on TOTW real fast

They also love their raw chicken to. I know you typicly dont mix but they get it more as treat for now than for their food on a regular

Earthborns the closest thing price wise and ingredient wise around here. Some prices can differ depending on the area so double check with your closest retailer. Meadow Feast is the only one with protein under 30.

Good to know, I haven't contacted them just yet.

I know right I have a large chest freezer that was a huge lifesaver when I was doing raw with Thor.

Opinions on Evanger's Meat Lover's Medley?

30% Protein
12% Fat
I'll have to call about the cal/phos

Cal per cup: 395

Ingredients:
Beef Meal, Sweet Potato, Peas, Rabbit, Beef, Pork meal, Beef Fat (Preserved with Mixed Tocopherols and Citric Acid), Dehydrated Alfalfa Meal, Pumpkin Seed, Potassium Chloride, Cranberries, Blueberries,Dried Kelp, Vitamins (Vitamin E Supplement, Niacin Supplement, Thiamine Mononitrate, Vitamin A Supplement, Vitamin B12 Supplement, Biotin, D-Calcium Pantothenate, Riboflavin Supplement, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Vitamin D3 Supplement, Folic Acid) Minerals (Calcium Carbonate, Ferrous Sulfate, Zinc Sulfate, Zinc Amino Acid Chelate, Iron Amino Acid Chelate, Copper Sulfate, Sodium Selenite, Copper Amino Acid Chelate, Manganese Sulfate, Manganese Amino Acid Chelate, Calcium Iodate, Cobalt Carbonate) DL Methionine, Lysine, Dried Chicory Root, Choline Chloride, Dried Enterococcus Faecium Fermentation Product, Dried Lactobacillus Acidophilus Fermentation Product, Dried Aspergillus Niger Fermentation Product, Dried Bacillus Subtilis Fermentation Product, Yucca Schidigera Extract, Taurine, Rosemary Extract.

Earthborn would be good but I don't like that it only has one protein source and if there's only one formula that fits my criteria I wouldn't be able to rotate it...

Ingredient wise it's fine and Evanger's is on the Whole Dog Journal list so it'll be on mine as well.

Evengers has had some issues. Nothing technically that would require a recall, but odd things, like, their specialty foods for dogs with allergies (ie:lamb or duck) not only NOT containing the listed protein, but also containing things like chicken or beef (proteins among the more common allergens). Assuming your dog hasn't such allergies that wouldn't be an issue, but it makes me wary of them.
