Diamond naturals recall

Good to know! Dodged a bullet in that it's not the variety/flavor we feed, but all the same maybe it's time to hunt up another brand.

They are both made by diamond so if you want to get away from diamond and I wouldn't blame you for doing so totw isn't the way to go.

I won't feed any diamond products and that's because of all the recalls and lawsuits. Id rather give my money to a company that hasn't been sued multiple times and doesn't have recalls multiple times a year.

As always, it's a balancing act between cost and quality for us. Hubby nixed raw for Oscar, probably because he does a lot of the feeding and he doesn't like the hassle and mess. He still gets raw eggs and meaty bits when we've got 'em, but kibble is his primary diet. I've been casually looking for a substitute that I can get at the local Farm & Fleet that won't give my husband a financial coronary but it's tough. I'm leaning toward Nutro since Ebony did pretty well on it (cancer notwithstanding).

Exactly the formula I feed, luckily different batch. I'll stick with Diamond... they dont have constant recalls... the last was 2006

After a diamond brand food was determined to be the cause of death of a dog in another forum I'm in I'm all set. Even the canine nutritionist from that forum refuses to feed diamond and really recommends against it but if you're going to go with diamond TOTW is the best option.

And they have had recalls since 2006 and in some instances they should have recalled and didn't hence the lawsuits. Diamond owns several brands and manufactures several others so some of their recalls are under those other brands.

Well that's just great. It leaves me with nothing but expensive options... wasn't an issue until husband lost his job back in November... that plus anything with poultry gives him the runs... hard to find where I live. We have one small Feed & Seed locally that sells a small selection of quality food and a few big box stores that are over priced and generally only put Iams & Purina on sale...

This is what my mother feeds our 16yr old dog. I'm not to worried about it... I feed raw and I'm not worried about Salmonella bothering the dogs... I did forward the link to my mother though so she is aware to wash her hands after feeding the dog. It's funny that she doesn't like me feeding my dog raw due to the risk of Salmonella. lol

Ye I'm not worried about salmonella for animals that eat raw meat but thanks for posting it gives you something to think about

We been feeding totw for a bit. First 3 bags were great. Then they just stopped messing with it. I thought maybe it was the flea pills mad them lose their appatite. But mix just a touch of gravy in it and they scarf it down. We went back to blue buffalo but I think I'm just gonna take smartfamily's advice and have the brand that I cant think of the name. hahahaha. They have multiple varieties that fit the bill so they wont stop eating it I hope. Plus I have to drive 1.5hr round trip for a tractor supply. I just get confused at persmart. Theres just to damn much. Plus they push what ever junk they get paid to push. The wife went and got a bag today. Only thing she asked for was chicken and grain free. Right on the bag it say's 100% chicken and multiple grains. WTF.

Thor was just about out of food so I went a head a brought a TOTW bag ( salmon flavor) Don't really know what else to feed him. Either there's no stores that carry a brand or its pricy.

I'm going to include at least a couple online retailers for each food in the dog food guide. I'm taking the whole day tomorrow to get at least most of it finished. Plain and simple finding a good dog food can suck majorly. The biggest complaints I hear most of the time are that there's limited options locally for people or there are ton of options but they also cost a ton of money! You just have to do the best you can do with what you have, even though it's not always easy by any means.

It;s not the cost it's the options for me. I read all this info and names and % and ingr and by the time I'm looking, I aint got a clue. I remember some names but not which variety or even if I rmrmber the name cause it was good or bad

Well with Earthborn you want the grain free and can do any one but the primitive natural which has chicken and the levels are kinda high so just think Earthborn grain free no chicken if you want to do Earthborn. If you want to do Acana I always try and remember the 2 p's: Pacifica and wild prairie, both of those are okay. With all the different foods I deal with/discuss I have to think of different little phrases or ways to remember formulas and brands.
