Corso Question

My boy Magic is 1 yr old CC... he is only around my wife's 3 year old Cocker Spaniel... He is rarely around other fogs unless its during our walks and he acts terrified of even tiny dogs.... will this ever change.... I am somewhat concerned. He barks if anyone comes up to the house but he will run from any size dog besides our Cocker Spaniel....

If he doesn’t get around other dogs often this will be the issue. Especially if you haven’t done it since day one of getting him. I definitely recommend taking him around other dogs as much as possible, socialisation is so important. Take him to meet as many different dogs as possible, expose him to as many different things/people as possible. People wearing hats, people on walking sticks or in wheelchairs, people riding bikes/scooters. People jogging. Big dogs, little dogs, birds. Anything and everything.

seeing as he is fearful start of slowly and build up from there once his confidence grows. If you have friends who have social stable dogs start with them.

good luck

That's a good question. My Draco is just about 6 months old and rarely in contact with other dogs. To Socialize him, I take him to the dog park, but only as an observer never inside the gate. Is that enough? Does he need to come into physical contact with other dogs to consider him properly socialized?

Magic is now 21 months old.... he is Extremely loving to our family... I put him in personal protection training... he is still Extremely loving to our family ......but if any dog or stranger shows up without me around...... I TRULY feel sorry for them.. the training has built up his confidence in a Huge way... I can walk him all through home depot and people pet, and rub on him all the time with No issues... during the pandemic I have found that he isn't a fan of big masks that prevent him from being able to gauge your intent. We have never been to a dog park. I also have a 6 month old female Corso .... she is VERY aggressive... she doesn't like ANYONE rubbing on her...lol so my work is cut out for me on her socialization.. she obeys my commands great but is aggressive yo any animal or person she doesn't know..
