I saw Kirkland Signature Nature’s Domain Salmon Meal & Sweet Potato Formula for Dogs on the recall list. Fortunately my area was not affected by the recall. I found this product about 2 years ago and have been & extremely happy with the results. My Mastiff had lost weight (he is leaner than he has been in years) and is more satisfied even with the smaller portion. Both my Mastiff and Cane Corso have amazing coats, good poop and love their food. I also give them a glucose mine pill 2x a day to keep their hips & joints healthy.

I did a lot of research trying to find a healthy dog food that didn't cost a fortune to feed 2 large dogs. I really like that there is no grain and from my research Costco has stringent guidelines for quality control of their Kirkland products. It is my understanding that this product is the same as Call of the Wild for almost half the price.

It can be challenging to determine what is the best food to feed and there is always a concern about what is truly going into dog food. Manufacturer's can make it deceiving when trying to determine the quality of their ingredients what we think of when we hear chicken may not be the same as the what ends up in the food (example). Most of us would not consider heads and feet a feasible main ingredient but apparently the dog food companies find that acceptable. I have yet to find a comparable food within the same price range. For anyone with access to a Costco, I highly recommend this food. In some locations there is also a Turkey & Sweet Potato option.

I understand that scraps are part of the raw food diet my previous reference was that in dog food most people are thinking of the choice cuts of meat not the left over scraps. If I had the freezer space I would consider feeding my dogs raw food but it isn't a practical option for me at this time.
