Coconut oil

Re: Coconut oil❓❓❓

I dont give it to Bruno but I just started using it myself after many friends recommended it for health reasons. I would assume it would help their skin and coat if nothing else. For humans it does more than a number of things, it is a really amazing oil! Make sure you get the unrefined organic kind if you do try it!

skin and coat mostly for the dogs, they had some dry skin over the winter and hit helped with that. For me I've started using it in cooking, it makes wonderfull popcorn (no, it doesn't taste like coconut popcorn).

I don't give every single day- I rotate between salmon/anchovy oil; coconut oil and olive oil. Plus, if I am feeding fatty cuts of meat (pork, esp.) I will skip the oils.

Balance over time.

I've never really not given him oils, so I have nothing to compare.

I give it to both my dogs and their coats have gotten softer and they shed less. The best thing I have noticed however is that they love it so much that it is a great way to get them to eat a pill. I don't even need to hide the fact that it is in there.

Amanda I actually got some organic coconut oil for me to use and read it could be used for dogs. So know we get to share it. Lol.

Good idea about the popcorn. Good to know about the skin stuff too cause our boxer gets dry nose sometimes.

That's a good idea too. I'm always fighting my dogs take pills and always use peanut butter sandwiches.

I put it on Tessa's nose when it gets dryish looking, & use it on a scar she has on her foot.
I let her lick it off her front paws, it'll keep her busy for 10-15 min.

I use it on my skin & in my own food also-

She goes absolutely bonkers as soon as I open the big container, she seems to never get enough, & I have to keep it hidden up high, as she already ate the 4oz container I kept on the counter.

Did she have a tummy ache after all that? Just wondering. It's funny what dogs love. I'm gonna definitely try it this winter.
I thought about making some frozen dog treats using coconut oil, plain yogurt and peanut butter. Put it in ice cube trays and they have a summer treat with tons of good stuff in it.
I agree deb. I liked that video a lot.

My puppy had pretty bad dandruff. At the recommendation of folks here, and after three weeks of a teaspoon of coconut oil a day, his coat looks 100% better and nearly no dandruff. He also loves the stuff.
