" Cherry" eye, help please

So Duke is only 9 weeks old, and now has cherry eye to his right eye. we've tried cleaning with a hot moist rag as directed by a vet, but has not worked for four days...any suggestions?

Cherry eye needs a vet's attention. There are numerous posts in the forum. Do a search for cherry eye. I've never dealt with cherry eye but it can be a serious condition.

Hope Duke's cherry eye gets better.

im sorry, pherhaps it would be best if you returned the pup.. (this kind off stuff does not go away, if you remove the gland "the cherry" the dog will need Eye drops for the rest of his Life and if you push it back in buy doing a "tuck and Stich" its just a 50% chance itl even work, hope this helps

To me getting rid of the puppy is an extreme overreaction. Thankfully neither of my dogs have suffered from cherry eye but some friends & family members have had dogs with this condition. It does have the potential to become a serious condition but can be treated fairly easily by surgery. Done chose to have it tucked back in whole others opted for removal. Maybe they got lucky but the only time she needed eye drops was when it got windy and the dust started to fly.
To the OP I would ask your vet about what else can be done since what you've been trying hasn't been working.

Agree with Smokeycat, after you've had dog a few months returning them to the breeder is usually not an option.

Seriously M8, I have read a few of your posts now and your lack of knowledge about mastiff breeds is astronomical. I think instead of giving advise on dogs that you obviously know very very little about you should start to read and learn. Cherry eye is very common in mastiff's and not a big deal. Have it removed not tucked and it will be fine. I know lots of people who have done the surgery and have yet to meet one that has had to give drops.

No need to return the pup, (smh) things happen and we take out dogs to the vet just like we would children. Cherry eye is best dealt with by a trained medical Pro (VET). Cherry eye is not a life threatening event, it's just an incnvienance that a DVM can deal with.

I agree my first had it in both eyes 12 years ago had them tacked never needed drops. Giving back the pup is something I would not even consider .

Thanks everyone, yah returning him definitely wasn't an option, Duke is part of my family. Weended up simply continuing heat compressions and it finally worked out, our vet did however recommend removal when he matured a little more.
