wow no dog should be going that often I know this is a little late but I had a really bad bout of loose stools with my lab husky mix and found that if it happens some foods that help are switch the diet to cooked rice and raw chicken if you cook the chicken no bones at all, Pumpkin as mentioned works wonders and plain yogurt also works wonders I would also fast the dog for a couple of meals in the beginning to allow the digestive system to empty I feed my lab twice a day therefore he missed breakfast and went on the recovery diet that evening. I now keep pumpkin on hand at all times and have not had any problems since. Good luck I know it can be frustrating seeing your little buddy like that, it always drives me crazy.

For the pureed pumpkin, which ever is easier for you, but I believe the canned we get at the store has been cooked then pureed like you would if you were cooking down a pumpkin at home.

Good luck with the dog food! I'd go with the Sundancer to, since it looks like the better of the ones you can get the one you can get the fastest.

The problem with the meat here is that any variant anywhere is crap (Welcome to India)! Even for human consumption, I cook the shit out of it before I'd eat it - I definitely cannot risk raw with my guy, at least not till he's older.
Yogurt and pumpkin worked awesome today! He's pooped twice so far, he's probably gonna go one more time after dinner. Solidish poop - not loose but not extremely hard either. Kinda pasty. So I'm crossing my fingers :)

I tried the canned ones at various stores today - the pureed one is pie filler, otherwise there is a chunky variant which is preserved in a sugary syrup. Which I guess is a definite no for him. :(

Like I'd said to angelbears, I swear sometimes it feels like I'm living in a jungle!

Yah, I'd not do the syrup one. If you can puree one at home then awesome, glad it sounds like its working for you!

Glad Boone's digestive system is doing ok. Remember to do slow transition to the new food. Kinda sucks that it takes so long for you to get dog food. Good for you being persistence and getting the best dog food you can get in your area. :)

Sometimes I am shocked at how interested I am in my dogs poop, and then it dawns on me the only reason I care is beacuse I'm a concerned and I would like to think good pet owner some people ask me why I care so much about the poop and I always tell them that it is a looking glass into your dogs digestive system and alot can be learned by what you see! I am glad that everything is working out for you keep us posted!

*blush* The problem is that there aren't enough mastiffs in the country, so people don't really know how to take care of them (stands true for any "imported" breed actually). It amazes me to see how people adjust their mastiffs to their own food (including complete vegetarianism) and then complain that their mastiffs aren't doing well.
Here's a youtube video about an (almost) adult neo mastiff here. I'd like to believe they should be bigger than this (though he looks healthy)!

No doubt, there are people dedicated to finding the right things for their dog as well - not taking anything away from them - but it's saddening for me to see :(

The food will be here by Monday, till then I figure I'm going to continue him on a mix of his kibble, boiled rice, yogurt, pumpkin and tiny little pieces of boiled chicken (he's taking it well now). My plan is to keep the rice, yogurt and pumpkin as is but replace the kibble in the mix to sundancer. Slowly stop the yogurt, decrease rice and increase kibble till its only kibble with pumpkin. Then only 1 spoon of pumpkin in the morning and 1 spoon of yogurt at night. I'll start adding the other oils to his food as well. Hopefully, it'll all be okay in about 3 weeks :). Does this sound okay? I've moved him to three meals a day - it seems to work better with him.

4 potties yesterday, once after every meal, 2 in the morning :D. Once in the morning today, after meal. Yay!

You're not the only one! I never thought I'd be this excited to see poop in my life! Since the first day he's come (a little over a month ago) I've either been watching every poo or ask my hubby to take a picture and send it to me!

I'll keep updating his status :)

Go very very slow with every diet change, slowly phase in the new kibble, slowly phase out the extras. If it takes weeks than so be it.

I will.. I'll keep posting the feeding changes on a new thread in the forum, so if I'm making a mistake somewhere, I'm going to rely on you good folks to boot my bum! :D

Okay so Boone has some loose stool last night again :( No change in diet AT ALL (the new kibble has not arrived as yet)! In the morning today, he started off loose but finished nicely formed poo (maybe about 20% of the poop was loose). Should I be worried?

Blood and stool tests have come out clean (except for a teeny bit of mucus in stool - which the vet has given an antibiotic for). Parvo tested twice, negative both times.

I,d just stay as you are for the moment, unless it gets really bad again, you're going to be making a change anyway as soon as the new food arrives.

:( I'll do that. I'm just worried sick about the guy!
Whats the best way to move him to three meals a day instead of his current four? The strategy I've used with my earlier dogs probably won't work with him.

Blaaaaaaagggggggghhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!! Shipping issues between the US and India, so can't get sundancer!!! arrrrrrrrrgggggggggggghhhhhhhhhh

I've asked for holistique - it'll come today. I'm thinking about slowly switching his kibble and when he's used to holistique completely, start adding boiled meat to it. What do you think?
