I'm speechless for once. Bowls don't take up that much room. Is it a financial thing? I don't live in a huge house yet all three of my dogs get their own bowls and food. Your corso needs more food.

First call sbca to pick up all your dogs. Now fill your tub with water, plug in your hair dryer, throw it in tub then dive in head first..

I have to agree on seperate bowls and feedings. I use grain free red meat kibble for the boy he's putting on about 11 lbs every two weeks right now. I don't free feed not because of bloat but because they work for their food. It's a training strategy. I would have to agree he's underweight. I would baby him a bit. Use a good grain free kibble and add olive oil and raw egg. We do shell and all for calcium. My 11 week old pup is eating three and a half to four cups a day right now so I also agree that 8 cups total for three dogs might be on the light side. I break our meals into three a day to help with training as well. They do have high calorie paste for dogs but it's a quick fix and won't tell you the root of the issue. I second the worm question as well. If it's been a while since deworming it can't hurt. Dog's pick up parasites so easy. We use Sentry chewables once a month because we live on a farm and they are always into dead things. Good luck. I hope he beefs up for you.

I do a morning feeding about 7, afternoon about 2 and night 8 of course there are treats all day for training and snacks. My boy loves duck jerky. It's healthy protein. I also have to admit if we have played hard he gets an extra 2 cups in his bowl.

The corso and likely the EM (you never said what your 3rd dog is) both need more than 2 cups twice a day. But 4 cups at once is alot all at once, especially if the corso hasn't been getting enough. I like Smart Family's suggestion of two meals of 3 cups and an extra two cups as a lunch or a before bedtime snack.

Sorry but this has to be someone jacking around, right?

There are folks who are that oblivious to their dogs out there, unfortunetly....

The problem for your situation is that by free feeding you're not able to moniter the exact intake of each dog, how much the each dog eats, when, and how much, can tell you ALOT about the health status of a dog. Add in the risks of bloat and I rarely find free feeding to be worth it.

How big is the pitt mix? Somewhere in the 50lb range I'm going to guess? 2 cups of food twice a day may be fine for him. But the EM will almost definetly need more, and the Corso definetly does.

It's not that it's a stupid question. It's when you post about a Corso being that underweight and then your feeding amounts are that far off, people freak out. I am a little shocked that your vet hasn't said anything about it. These guys build a lot of muscle mass they require a lot of protein. Your Corso is probably your most submissive dog which means by using one bowl the other dogs are getting the bulk of the meal. I would bare minimum feed your Corso separately. As far as amounts go think about how much food a grown human eats then realize these guys should be very active as well. Bulk that boy up. Treat him with eggs and beef liver or hearts. At my boys rate of growth he will be your dog's size at 7 months so that's why everybody yiked! It's good that your asking.

What you are doing is not free feeding. I free feed meaning I keep my dogs bowl full at all times pretty much. He eats when he gets arkund to it it. You are "free for all" feeding. Pretty much starving the smaller dog. And you say why should you change because it works? Its obviously doesnt work.

I'm concerned about the EM too, he stated she's over 2 yrs old and 100lbs, thats tiny.

Regardless there needs to be more food and the dogs seperated for meal times so you can be sure which dog is getting what food.

Well, it happens, but thats still tiny.

At any rate, to reiterate: I highly recommend a seperate bowl for each, each fed seperate (if possible not next to each other either), while you watch. Food gets picked up at the end of meal time, since you've always free fed it may take them time to get used to the fact that they have to eat it when NOW and that it won't be down later, so don't worry if they don't eat it all the first few days. Plus more food for both the EM and the CC.
