Buying a Tibetan Mastiff

So for years I have had a fight internally on which dog I wanted - either a French Mastiff or a TM.My neighbor across the street has had 2 of them and I just loved them and they have been good to me.So I am going to put a down payment from a breeder from here http://www.tibetan-mastiffs.net/puppies.shtml.Where did you purchase your mastiff?I'm picky because I don't want to just buy any - but want an experienced breeder who knows what they are doing? I want a black with brown Male Mastiff -soon to be called Mufasa.

Dig the name. Can't contribute much to the conversation though my working knowledge of this breed is little - nil. Welcome to the forum though! Plenty of knowledge to be found around here. Good luck on your quest and be sure to post pics when you get your pup!

I got a 404 page not found from that link. Very briefly: if the breeder does not put titles on their dogs and does not post or makes available health testing and pedigrees at least a couple of generations back, you are dealing with a back yard, non-ethical breeder. Period and amen. That said it's possible to get a decent-quality dog from a BYB but it is really crap-shoot. Well actually it's a crap-shoot either way but you are much more likley to get a quality dog from a breeder who cares.

Non DDB (non Dogue de Bordeaux)-- that you decided on a Tibetan over your other choice of a Bordeaux.

I decided to overlook that decision, also..

And we are all going to be demanding many pics of your new puppy, so be prepared, lol.
