Hi there, I know you've probably heard this a hundred times before, and its frustrating because you want to make sure he's growing well BUT those charts really don't tell you anything useful because they're based on mean (average) stats which means the majority of pippa will be either heavier our lighter than what is listed. Just keep an eye on his figure and give him a feel every week or so to make sure you can easily feel those back (hind) ribs. Remember, for our large breeds, its better to have them on the lighter side of the scale than heavy.. A pudgy pup is more likely to be a fatty when he's older not to mention joint problems.. Got any pics??

he looks great! A little on the heavy side though:) a simple rule of thumb is to start out feeding him the recommended portion it says to on the dog food bag and then making adjustments as he starts growing. Here is a link with some visuals on the ideal body. Some owners might tell you that its ok for the bull mastiff to be pudgier than other dogs but don't listen to them. The thinner he is growing up (within limits obviously), the less prone he will be to health problems when he's older.

Good luck and looking forward to more pics in the future!

I like to monitor my girls weight by ribs shown :)
I keep my dogs lean, I can see the last 3 ribs and a nice tuck.
Our Boxer is 6 years old and vets take him for a 4 year old as he is lean and fit.
Our Corso is a bit harder as she is a heavy boned girl, more so then most Corso out there, so I like to see a nice tuck and ribs when she is moving.
It is better to keep them on the lean side then heavy, easier on joints :)
I know that there is often a competition to see who has the biggest dog, but I prefer healthy ;)
Your pup looks good from the pictures. Enjoy!

You're Bull Mastiff is so cute! :) I have a Spanish Mastiff puppy and we got him at 14 weeks and he weighed about 25 pounds. He is 6 months old now and weighs 74. I've been told by breeders, a vet tech, and a dog trainer that he is on the small side, but his body looks fine, so maybe he will be small or maybe he is a slow grower. Are there any Bull Mastiff weight charts to look at and compare to your dog's weight?

thanks for all your replys. we took him to a vet for a check up they said he looks good i changed his feeding a little bit so he can stay on the lean side, aslo i have been getting him to run around more. when we took him to the vet they said he was 40lbs. i will post better pics tonight i got my girlfriends camera:)
