I completely agree with Ruger-Kris. It sounds like you dogs was protecting you/his yard. It would have been you doodle went crazy (assuming since you said she would go on rampages) and you BM thought your doodle was threatened and reacted. My BM doesnt pick fights just like Ruger-kris said, but he does shy away from them. He will react to a threat. That was it sounds like happened. Good luck but I think he is probably fine.
