Bruno's growth thread!

Hey guys and gals. Just got back from the vet. I got Bruno last Thursday the 27th of February. He had his first vet appointment today. He is right around 8 weeks of age. He weighs 9.5 pounds so far. He eats anywhere from 3-4 cups of dog food a day with them split into 3-4 servings. The vet didn't take his height. But I will get it later. Things are going great thus far. She talked to me about neutering him, I said I wasn't sure yet as all the info I have read here so far. She said that it doesn't matter as its my decision and that she is just here to provide info and do it if and when I decide to. Well here is some pics from just now.

This is Bella I was told she was boxer/black lab when I got her but she looks like a mini pittbull. Not to sure why her eyes reflected the flash like this but still a OK picture thanks again guys.

Hey thanks for stopping by and taking the time to comment. Yes I'm so excited for him to be bigger. But I know I will miss his little stages. I have been viewing this forum like crazy this past 2 weeks seeing how fast everybody else's pups and dogs grow. It really amazed me how fast this loyal and gentle giant matures. So far I have to say he is the best puppy I have ever owned. Thanks again!

Bruno looks awesome! Mastiffs should not be neutered until at least 18-24 months. Early neutering can cause health and joint issues later in life.

Remember, slow and steady growth is best for a mastiff to prevent health issues as they continue to grow until 2-3 years of age.

Bella is a cutie!

Hey thanks for stopping by.

Finally getting off work. When she asked me about neutering Bruno I discussed what I had read here and also heard in the video. She told me forums are forums take it with a grain of salt. She said she has neutered BMS as early as 4 months. I thought that was crazy after all the new info I got here. She also said if you do it when their older it can be harder on their hips from being on their backs so long and spread open. But she did say its my decision, and she was just supplying info and some (personal opinion.)

But yes I'm definitely going to wait if I even decide to do it at all.

Yea that's my Bella. She will be 4 soon. I need to put her on a little diet and up her exercise a little bit. She has gained a little weight this winter.

Thanks again!

Haha yeah she is starting to turn into a foot stool. She was always very bulky and muscly but she has slowly started to round out. Here is a pic of her sleeping when I got home.

Bruno is adorable!!!! He is going to grow up so fast and before you know it you'll have a full grown puppy. Even at 2 1/2 years old I still see a lot of puppy in mine. I didn't neuter him until he was 18 months old and like everything else you will read on here it's not recommended to neuter these big guys early if at all. The longer you can wait the better it is for their health.

Hey thanks for stopping by. Yea I'm so excited about this puppy. Things are going great so far. One of the smartest dogs I have had thus far. I wish though he would stop chewing my phone chargers. Other than that things are going great! I have decided I'm going to do a rough weight every Wednesday. I will also start measuring height.

But thanks again for stopping by.

We were just looking at Major and said Wow. He was only little for a minute. I do miss that small puppy like look, but I am excited to watch him grow. My vet told me 6 months was a good time because there are less problems with the procedure and easier for them to handle than when they get bigger. Not sure when we will get this done. Might be that we want to mate him at least once. Either way, I'm guessing I will do more research before I decide anything.

Hey thanks for stopping by Bruno's thread.

How old is major now, do you have a pic? Yea I really haven't decided yet about the neutering. I'm leaning more o. The fence not to do it. I figure if I wait till over 18+ months I might as not do it at all. But well see.

Thanks again.

Well guys I did a rough weight of Bruno today and he is right in between 14-15 pounds. It feels like he has already doubled in size. He's growing so fast pics to come in just a bit.

Hey thanks for stopping by. He is doing great so far. I can't wait to take him to the vet next week and get a actual weight for him. This is my first mastiff and I love them. My ol'Lady on the other hand is taking a little more time to warm up. I figure it will be a lot better after he is fully potty trained. Thanks again for stopping by Bruno's thread.

Anybody else's dogs lay down and eat. I swear that's Bruno's favorite way to east his meals.uploadfromtaptalk1394841530676.jpg
