Brown discharge from nose

My 5.5 month old male EM, Franklin, has had a runny nose for the past two days now. The first day it was a light green and I didn't pay too much attention to it. Today, the second day, it is brown. He is eating fine and his outputs are fine also. He always has water available to him also. He is always inside in a nice cool house since the weather has warmed up over the past week or two. All vaccinations are up to date and he takes a heartworm pill once a month.

Is this any reason for concern or is this just a regular cold that he will overcome on his own?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

Personally, the first-time green discharge would have been a solid indicator of an infection. The fact that it's changed to brown now makes me think it might be dried blood. If it were me, I'd check in with a vet just to be safe, especially given the young age.

This. Clear discharge usually is a mild cold. Green definitely indicates infection and with brown I would call your vet at least. I don't think it's something you need to rush in to the vet right now for but definitely call tomorrow when they open.

I went through the same thing with Titan about a month ago. Vet prescribed cephalexin (not sure about spelling) and it cleared up in about 4 days but prescribed for 10 days.
