Blackberries!

They've just started coming in here, so I took Kharma to the farm with me to pick berries tonight. Charley's sold all but five of the cows, and they're usually down in the woods or back over the last ridge so it's not an overwhelming temptation for her to go herd all the cows up anymore.

Kharma had a ball.

She rolled in cowshit, then went hunting. She traipsed and tracked all over the pasture, ran until her tongue was hanging so low I thought she was dragging a rabbit carcass and she picked berries and ate them until her tongue turned purple.

It's hilarious to watch her pick blackberries. You'd think that with those jowls she wouldn't be able to, but she pulls them back daintily and gently pulls off only the ripe, sweet berries. She can pick one ripe one out of the middle of a bunch of green and red ones.

Of course, she does try to score some freebies out of my basket, lol!

She wasn't all that thrilled with the bath in the hose when we got home, but took it with good grace on the promise of a good rubdown with a towel. For some reason she thinks that is one of life's greatest treats. She rocks back and forth and moans with pleasure the whole time.

Unfortunately, even after a good shampooing with oatmeal shampoo and a rinse with a LOT of lavendar creme rinse she still stinks faintly. Hopefully I can get her dry before we go to bed

Sounds like you had a great evening!

I had a Doberman that loved to eat blueberries off the bush. He would stand on his hind legs and pick the ripest berries off the bush.

Oh, Bimmer taught her that little hunting trick, although, being what she is, she might have come up with it on her own at some point, lol.

Bimmer, however, when we lived at the farm, would NOT come inside until he'd washed off in the wading pool and wouldn't let Kharma or Shiva inside until they'd washed either.

Aww....I love taking the dogs berry picking. They have a blast. I've taken Eddie this year but haven't taken Uallis yet. Uallis's jowls would be stained purple by the time he was done pigging out on berries. lol

We have a raspberry patch and our dogs love them! It's amazing how much control they have of their lips and jowls to pick only the ripe berries. Eating raspberries cause excessive amounts of drool here )
