  • Welcome back!

We decided to spruce things up and fix some things under the hood. If you notice any issues, feel free to contact us as we're sure there are a few things here or there that we might have missed in our upgrade.

Big Scare yesterday.

Yep, from your description he is looking to mate! Especially if he ignored Dozer. If he was in an aggressive stance, trust me, Dozer would not be in one piece.

You don't know Dozer. LOL. He has the longest teeth and hardest bite of any dog I have ever had or known of. One time he bit a beef rib bone in half on the first bite. I have also seen him in a fight and it is a scary sight. I think the Wolf would just jump away then leave if Dozer got real aggressive, plus if he started fighting I am sure Jade would join in. But for now she is crated in the car.

As for cold it really seemed to be okay yesterday. Inside the SUV it was pretty warm even during the snowstorm. Today is colder so I will check more often and run the motor/heater as needed. Going to buy a Backseat barrier for the SUV though, I think that will work out much better and she wont feel so caged up.

Oh here is a close up of Dozer.

It really sucks that this is happening to you, the only good thing so far it seems is that he hasn't and doesn't seem inclined to injure any of your dogs. Does you AC have large traps for coyotes, wolves & stuff? Kind of like they do for feral cats in the city with food in one end and it closes when they step on a certain part. If they do maybe you could get one of those set up with something Jade has sat on or rubbed her scent all over and see if he can be caught. I know they can be crafty with those things but maybe with the scent of a dog in heat they will trip up, lol. If he is caught hopefully AC will be able to try and get a hold of the owner or at least neuter the dog.

One thing I have read about wolves and wolf/dogs is that they can be nearly impossible to contain when their hormones start up and breeding season is occurring. The owner obviously does not have an adequate containment area set up which is another thing your local AC can hopefully help with. I hate it when people and animals suffer due to the negligence and ignorance of bad pet owners.

As far as a car barrier goes this is my dream one for when I eventually get an SUV: http://www.cleanrun.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=3272&ParentCat=158. I love that the cage is made to withstand collisions, I think in another thread they talked about how dog seat belts and harnesses can do more harm than good. I also really like that you can lock it and leave the hatch open when it is warm out. As it is I have no idea what I'm going to do to contain Roly in my Prius when he gets bigger, my SUV might be coming sooner than planned, LOL.

Good luck and hopefully your nuisance is resolved soon.

Wow those are pricy. I have heard of dogs with broken bones from the car harneses from just hard stops. I will take my chances with a bounce off the back of the seats.

I have not called the AC back as I am furious with them. The Sheriff came out and said they couldn't even get them to answer a call. The wolfie has not been back since almost being run over by me. Either the owner found out he was in deep doo or it got hit by a car or something. I live very close to our main highway and it is very busy here this time of year as we are a resort ski area with fresh snow.

Yeah the price is why it's my dream one, the likely hood of my being able to afford one is slim to none :( But it's nice to dream, I have a habit of going on websites and checking out all of the things I would buy if I won the lottery, lol. I'll probably end up having a wire crate in the back or a barrier.

I hear many complaints daily about getting a call through to our AC. Sorry your having a hard time with them. I live in a bigger city so the police dispatch can contact our dispatch directly over the radio, not sure about your area. Another option would be to go to the shelter they operate out of...if they have one. Glad he hasn't returned and hopefully he stays away!

Thanks Amanda, what's worse is that I know the local AC Officer. And have seen her become very complacent in her job duties. But we have a large area to cover and very few officers to cover it. Remember San Bernardino Ca. is oficially broke.

That sucks. AC is the lowest rank on the pole when it comes to public safety! We have 600-800 animals in our shelter at any given time and the kennel is never fully staffed, even when it is, there are far too few people! Its the same for us out in the field. I have seen too many officers become complacent and its sad. They all start off with a great attitude and slowly fall apart. Its a tough job and is difficult to manage long term!! I always tell people to keep at it. If you nag enough something will get done :) Or request to talk to the administrator of the place, that usually gets the ball rolling pretty quickly here ;)

Well so far still no more sightings of the wolfdog. But I did manage to pull some good shots of him Dozer, and Jade. Dozer really tried to give the wolfdog a thrashing but he just runs away and jumps over the fence.
Wolfie thinks he is king of the yard.

Then Dozer tells him no way buddy!

And sends him packing with tail tucked under.

Wolfie protecting my yard with my dogs (sheesh!)

Wolf jumping into the yard, you can see Dozer under him looking up as he passes over him.

Considering Dozer is 100LB and Jade about 120/25 it is pretty obvious that is a large dog. I still say Dozer would whoop it's ass. (If he could catch him) lol.
I like the idea of AC but with what has been going on they got a lump of coal from me this year. Also the "LAWs" enforced by AC were never brought to a vote of the public. Just made up for revenue without allowing the people to vote on them.
