Beowulf vs Green Meadow

I'm beginning the search for my next English Mastiff baby. I went to the OFA website and downloaded the results for Mastiffs for the last three years . From there I started googling kennel names that had at least a few dogs with comprehensive testing. I emailed a few of them and have heard back from the two mentioned above.

Beowulf is a fairly large breeder but I believe they do it right in spite of the volume. They have pups due in the next few days. They are very close to me.

Green meadow mastiffs is a much smaller operation, run out of their home, but they do all the health testing and are active in the show circuit, not that I care about that. They just bred a female last week so too soon to know if they are pregnant. They are in Vermont.

I really prefer the smaller operation but the logistics would be more difficult but not insurmountable. Beowulf is in Arkansas so that is easier for me to visit. I'll be having conversations with both of them over the next week or so, thus far it has just been a couple of emails with each. I will not buy a dog from a breeder where I cannot pick up the pup in person and drive it home. This will be part of the conversation.

Does anyone have any personal experience with either breeder?

I was warned off of Beowulf when I was searching for a pup by two other breeders because of epilepsy in her line. This was the breeder in N.Y. Also I believe you have to agree to feed their food, it's in the contract. (the other two breeders did not have pups at the time) I went with Nancy Walker of Lazy D Mastiffs.

I got a beowulf mastiff about 5 months ago. I asked for an older mastiff and she had one she would let go. I did tons of research online about Beowulf Mastiffs and kept finding the same one complaint about epilepsy. I decided to go ahead and take her 3.5 year old. It was a fine experience dealing with Beowulf Mastiffs. As far as the food, she did recommend it and said she used to be the owner but not anymore. I would do it all again.

Only a few more days to Pupoy Time.

Any new pictures of Lucy, before she comes home?

No, I'm ready for the road trip though! Hubs is going to go with me so I get to snuggle her all the way home!

It must be puppy season!! My daughter is bringing home a boxer boy on Friday to train as her service animal. I can't wait to see all the puppy pictures on the forum.

Dpenning, Lucy is just gorgeous! I expect SO many pictures of all of your dogs. Please.
