Update on The Bella saga ... Good news!
Well we've managed to keep Bella's movements to a minimum. She's has much better days....I got her some anti-flam. She's been on full dose for her weight 2xs per day. Did that for 2 weeks. Then backed her off to 1 maintenance dose in the mornings. Now she's gone into an early heat.....oh what joy we have with all the male dogs escaping to come visit our Bella.... darn good thing she's not allowed out side unless she's on her leach! I've been so worried about her legs that when she started showing signs of coming into a heat I just thought it was a false one.....I was so wrong!
So now we're onto therapy to rebuild those supporting muscles.
    Going very very slowly

Ah...Poor Princess Puppy! Life is unfair when the joints are in pain. My poor G.Puppy has a torn ACL, and my daughter is freaking out...she wants the operation NOW, but it might not be a full tear, and Ortho doesn't want to do it until it is fully gone. Well, test results are coming. At any rate, they have suggested, rest, therapy, etc., so I may ask that your have a chat with her and tell her what you've been doing. My daughter's health is not good, so she can't really physically assist the dog, and I'm not sure where we go from here with the issue. Maybe you can share your wisdom and experience. First hand is always Best Hand.

Let me know...I'll call her tonight. (2nd problem, G.Ma doesn't live near her, and so, I can't comfort my poor boy... Poor Baby, he's been through so much.)

Best thing is to stable the knee..... At first I used therapy tape ..... at first I picked it up at our close by saddle store.... I figured since Bella was much larger then most dogs I would go get horse tape..... I found it's cheaper at shoppers drugmart.... I really over taped her because I found taping like the vets videos was just not good enough and came off pretty quick...... so I did the "Y" tape as suggested but reinforced it by wrapping more tape on the top and bottom of the "Y".....

I also purchased braces for her and found the right combination with the therapy tape and braces

No, I don't. PM me with it, okay? Funny, but you are closer to her than I am. She's in Kitchener/Cambridge, I'm in London. Could you text with her? She's a really texty-type person.

This is what she needs to know! Little Man is crying now and looking at her. My poor G.Baby...I wish I could drive there, BUT...look outside! Maybe I can go for a few days over the holiday. If you could give me info for her to text or call, I would appreciate it. Just P.M., I'll pass it on. Thank You! (Little Man owns Granny's heart.)

    How's your G Baby doing?

Bella and Sunny are with my dad for the next 8 days....
My dad spoils these fur babies more then he spoiled my kids lol. When he heard the pups were coming to grandpa and Suz's he ran out and picked up liver treats.
    Candy for dogs lol

Sent you a PM about daughter and her decisions. One must recognize her health issues play into her decisions. She needs this to resolve fast...they will move, I believe, quickly, to a ,surgical option.... I would spare the little man, but, I understand, just how difficult it is for her. He is her sun, moon and stars...every whimper breaks her heart.

Thank you for holding out an option for her...who knows, she may double back to examine it if things don't happen the way she anticipates.

I'm sorry your daughter and grandpuppy have to go through this. I know the feeling all too well. I definitely lean towards the pro-surgery side of things, so I know where she's coming from. Restricting my guys long term from leading a free life doing the things they love and live to do would be worse for me than the few weeks of pain they endure post-op. Dany had her TPLO in March this year. Rhaegar had his first in February (a 25% tear and a quicker recovery) and his second 16 weeks ago (a full tear and slower recovery). He has already been off restriction for weeks now and can run and play and chase wildlife without being painful afterwards. This is a video of them I took yesterday. If your daughter goes through with surgery and has a Facebook, I highly recommend that she join the Facebook group Canine Cruciate Recovery (TPLO, CM etc.). They are WONDERFUL and so supportive and informative.

Thank You, SJ... Little Man is Struggling through (poor G-Puppy), and we are waiting on the Ortho for appointment. He's in pain, but, my daughter is keeping him quiet and giving him his meds with his food. I sent your info on to daughter and she is in full agreement...operation and renewed strength and ability. The Ortho's office isn't opened until next week, and then it will be fast, I think, especially since he has re-injured the leg last week.

I'll let you know how it goes. Fingers and toes crossed on this one. The Little Man (one of my names for him) is her Heart Dog. Every whimper breaks her heart...if anything happens to him, she will die. He is her sun and moon and stars...her baby.

hows the family.., how’s your daughter and her lil man doing?
I must say if I had the choice of surgery for Bella I would have.... it’s a long hard road this way. But it’s working! Bella is off all pain meds at this point has been for 2 weeks now....We’re still keeping her on lockdown for the most part.... no running or jumping.... but we are starting her walking therapy. I’ll be taking her back for a follow up appointment soon and talk about what to do to strengthen those ligaments..... Still going very very slowly.... I know she’s doing a lot better because her aggression towards dogs is backing off. I’ve been able to stop her from going after dogs with just 2 words.... with me.... and she sticks to my side.
