Bandog

Not sure if this has been discussed. The breeder of my dog de bordeaux / American Bulldog called her a Bandog. He said when a Mastiff is bread with another breed was referred to as a Bandog. I researched this and I found that ancient european dogs were called Bandogs. Has anyone else researched this?

I believe it's from a saxon word banda-doc , used for all mastiffs at one time , meant chained dog ....... nowadays it's usually used for pit mastiff crosses , i'd think , knowing AB pedigrees , it'd be a suitable tag for your ab x ddb cross ...... I knew somebody had one called "crazy eddie" , i'm sure one of the best dogs he ever had ...........
