Atlas...The story.

I'm not sure how I missed the OP back in September, but I'm all caught up now LOL ... I think everyone's covered what I was going to say anyway but I just wanted to add another round of applause for taking on a "problem dog" and giving him another shot. He's a good-looking dog and seems to be really at-ease around your daughter. It would have raised my suspicions too to have someone tell me a dog was allergic to all meat ... glad you guys went the long way and found something that worked for Atlas' skin and such.
Keep us posted! We use a trainer-recommended e-collar for our adopted EM and have much the same success. Like you, we hardly have to touch it anymore and it's great to see that kind of thing work when used properly instead of just making things worse.

An update on Atlas since it has been awhile. He is doing well and is now about 2.5 yrs old. Most of his original behavioral issues have subsided. We have had no health issues, allergies, or skin problems. He has put on a fair amount of healthy weight. He is due for a trip to the vet so I will get is exact weight then. A couple issues we are having with him. Digging, our back yard is a wreck. I know he is bored, but he wants out at 5AM and I am not about to go out and play at that hour. He begs, but a lot of that can be blamed on my 2 yr old daughter constantly "dropping" food. Both of those I know aren't entirely his fault.

One issue that is becoming more serious is aggression toward strangers. I had been taking him to work with me regularly and he was good with customers. Then with my daughter our schedule changed and someone was home with him most days of the week so he stopped going to work. Now with a couple of these outbursts I don't want to take him because he scares the crap out of these poor people. I am guessing even though we walk with other dogs and people every morning he is starting to become aloof to strangers? My trainer is coming over soon and bringing a friend that is a stranger to us to see how he reacts. He is awesome with my family and people he knows. I just don't want him scare people more than his looks already do.

Here are a few shots with his buddy that "drops" him treats all the time.
