I have done my research and it seems like a fila would b the perfect additon to my family. For a little back ground im 20 wife and son i will b joining the police force in march in the process of buying a house. Every kid grows up with a bestfriend and i want my son to grow up with a fila

How old is your son? And you do realise if he gets a Fila there is a very real probability he wont be able to have friends over to your house in about a years time? Not unless you isolate the dog when you have visitors? There wont be any knocking on the door and coming in to play, unless of course like I say you isolate the dog? I dont own a Fila but if it were me I wouldnt choose that as a childs first furry best friend, these are a serious hard breed. Im sure Dogman will chime in here and give you the low down on owning one of these AMAZING but not to be taken lightly breeds. Im not saying you cant or shouldnt have one, dont get me wrong, but a Fila for a first time childs dog??

I live in SC, but I am willing to travel 10 to 12 hours to get one. I understand about not having friends over like I said I have done my research. I have never owned a fila, but I did grow up with pleanty of pit bulls. Most of them were big babies but i did have a couple agressive ones. Like I said I have done my research plenty of it. There is a breeder in up state SC, But they will not return emails or phone calls. The breeder in NC i can not find any good nor bad reviews.

Pits are not Fila, a breeder that cares about the breed will tell you and ask about your dog experience. Unfortuantley too many of the wrong people are getting involved in the breed now. There are Fila owners that could point you in the right direction.

I totaly understand that a fila is not a pit. From what i have researched they are far from it. Like i have stated i have done the research and know both the pros and the cons. My family and i are ready to experiance a fila first hand. I am not in the market just yet im lookin more towards april or may but i would like to find a breeder so that i can establish a relationship with them and make sure they are the correct breeder for my family and i. My family has decided on the breed. When i say my family im talking my wife and i. We just need to find the right breeder for us.

That's great you want to establish a relationship first that's what I did as well. Great way to learn about breeder trust, most important IMO. As for breeders if you haven't gotten a PM yet other fila owners will chime in and point you in the right direction.
