Almond Butter ok for dogs?

Research shows that almond butter is ok for dogs, especially organic almond butter. I checked the sugar and fat content in Walmart Creamy PB and MaraNathan Crunchy AB and they are the same, however, organic AB does not have refined sugar and hydrogenated vegetable oils.

However, due to the high fat content, it is recommended to give AB occasionally as with PB. If your dog has a sensitive stomach, both AB and PB can cause stomach problems.

I did a quick search and passing on the info. In my opinion, I will give AB to Titan when he has to take a pill, which isn't very often.

I thought I read before that almonds are toxic to dogs?

NeoBull, most of the research shows they are not toxic to dogs but as with any food, moderation is the key. I found one website that showed they could be toxic. In fact, I found walnuts, pecans and macadamia nuts are toxic to dogs. Ruth posted on the board that it is better to feed the dog low-sugar peanut butter. The main concern with PB and AB is the high fat and high sugar contents. Titan is prone to yeast infections on his skin and ears, sugar aggravates yeast infections.

The only problem with almond butter is its fat content. However, dogs are allowed to eat peanut butter, which contains far more fat than almond butter (50% comapred to 14%).
