Advice on appetite

Hi guys

Haven't been on the forum much, but Lottie my presa x shepherd is now a year old, and doesn't appear to have much appetite, she was always a good eater, but does not eat regularly, sometimes shes eating at midnight! She has cooked chicken and Dr johns gold hyperallergenic kibble. She had her first heat approximately 10 weeks ago and hasn't really been right since. She had to go to the vets a she had a urine infection, but that's all ok now. Has anyone else encountered this problem?

Had her weighed when she visited the vets 6 weeks ago, and she was 44.6kg.

Should i try her with a few smaller meals during the day, my concern was is she having a phantom pregnancy as she still has enlarged breast's no milk though, and was scratching up my carpet under the coffee table.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I would have a vet check for pyro and false pregnancy. Pyro is deadly and may not show symptoms until it is to late. Good luck!

You might want to google it and see what you think. I don't know much about it but it is very dangerous and as I said deadly if not caught early. It is actually spelled pyometra.

Thanks angelbears, i know what pyometra is as we lost an older bitch to it a few years ago, since then i've had all my bitches spayed. I hadn't thought about it to be honest her being a pup, and was booking her in the next couple of months to have her done. Fingers crossed it isnt x

Appetite loss can be caused by many issues, best to talk with your vet and see what they think, maybe run a blood test.

That's what i was wondering, as she is around 11 weeks from her season, and she has been displaying like nesting behaviour i.e the scratching up in the corner under a table... and also burying her toys etc. However its best i get her checked out.

Took lottie to the vets, he suspects that it's a pseudo pregnancy as she is producing milk, just need to wait for test results to be 100% sure
