So tonight was our first night with the chute and the teeter. I dragged my husband along to take some video :) I am really happy how he did. It is tough to make the guy go slow, as he gets so damn excited. Lol, we had a kangaroo moment right before the teeter. That is a small Black Jack jump and I am just shy of 5' 7" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sl-wBMFRQLc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0TGsp2mbSCA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rBGvbnRez-Q

Thanks, it is fun and we have just started :) I am proud of him on the teeter totter, is a scary thing for all dogs but he charges through it all. It is the getting him to slow down that is the hard part. He loves class and I can't wait until we are ready to compete. His bouncing kangaroo moment before it is his turn is a favorite lol. He so loves to jump.

Love the videos, and hope you post more! He is a beautiful dog and I'd love to see him progress. I hope someday that I can build Bella's confidence in herself up and do something like this with her :)

Bah I wish I lived in a bigger place that has interest in this type of stuff. I know I would enjoy it and I believe Barron would too.

Agility, Rally and OB will all help the dog with their confidence, the handler as well. There are many dogs there that are more nervous of the equipment and it is amazing to watch them progress. That Rottie that went on the teeter before Black Jack WOULD NOT go into the tunnel or on the equipment, now she is starting to have fun and you can see her confidence building. I am loving our class right now, there are only 2 of us, so it is really like a private class. Our Teacher has done her Masters Agility and is fantastic. Black Jack is a hit with his exuberance lmao.

What age would you suggest starting something like this? Bella is 5 months, and is still in a "Basic Obedience" class, but she is coming along well.

You can start the easy stuff like tunnels and bridges anytime. The jumps, a-frame that I would wait. We just started with Black Jack a few weeks ago, he will be 2 in a few days. His sister started at around 1, not overly strenuous, but working on it. Mind you there is nothing she doesn't do :) . I start taking my dogs to empty playgrounds quite young to get them familiar with equipment and build up their confidence. I find it really helps, they are not uncomfortable on various footing.

The tunnels and bridges sound fun, I think she would like that...maybe lol. We still spend a lot of time sitting outside the skateboard park, because she still isn't comfortable with it. Thanks for the advice and hope to see more videos :)

If you are want to do agility you should be able to find a agility class geared to puppies. Dog should not start jumping until growth plates are closed. Contact equipment can be started at any age but should start with equipment flat on the ground, this includes the teeter. Most serious agility classes do not introduce equipment so quickly.
Where are you located I may be able to recommend a group that offers classes that confirm to current standards of training agility. You do have to be careful because outdated and poor training methods can comprimise the safety and health of the dog.

I would recommend avoiding the bridge and teeter at any height until the puppy clumsiness has disappeared as they are quite narrow. The other obstacle to avoid would be the weave poles as they can stress the joints especially in larger dogs that have to make tighter turns. As long as you are willing to be shown that your dog is in much better shape and much faster then you are I've found it to be a great activity to share with your dog.
