8 month old EM limping? Should i change his diet..?

My 8 month old mastiff Bruno has been limping for a few days. He has not been injured, theres nothing in his paw, etc. he lets me touch it and doesnt seem to be in alot of pain. It seems to be more in his joint right above his paw. He does need his toenails trimmed, but he lets me mess with his nails to with no reaction. Hes going to the vet sunday to get checked out and get his nails clipped. Ive done some research and limping or lameness seems to be pretty common in mastiff puppies. Hes still playful and eats well and everything, but i can tell hes a bit sore. Hes currently on purina adult (i just found out how bad it is) and weighs over 100 pounds but its been a couple months since he was last weighed.I live in a small town with not alot of pet stores around so whats a good dog food i can feed him while on a budget? Ive looked into blue buffallo and a taste of the wild but they have alot of bad reviews so im just not sure what to feed him! And any experience with the limping? I feel so bad for him :(

If his nails are over grown it can cause limping.i would start by getting his nails cut and see how he does.Do mention it to the Vet while you are there.
We feed Castor & Pollux grain free/poultry free.its about $60.00 here for a 30 lb. bag. It lasts about a month.i am sure others will chime in with others that may be less expensive.
Good luck!

I feed Taste of the Wild. Price has gone up. It's now $50 for 28 lb bag :(. It used to be $35. I started feeding part kibble to cut down on the cost and hassle of raw.

I feed Taste of the wild, Sierra Mountain. Where I am I get it for $48 for 30 lbs.

I feed 1/2 raw diet and 1/2 Castor & Pollux (grain and chicken free) which is $48 for 26 or 28 lb bag. I order Titan's food from Chewy.com which has free shipping for order over $49.

Sounds like pano which can be painful for the pup. Reduce exercise, allow a small walk to go potty and reduce running/jumping.

I'd get the nails done, pronto... and also head to the pet store and start reading ingredient labels.

My recommendations:
Look for one with zero corn or wheat, first.
Then see what your options are and air for one with more real meat items in the top 5 ingredients.

You can write down the brands you see and then look them up on dogfoodadvisor.com to see what others are saying about the ingredients and quality for what you have available.

If you have a Farm & Feed supply store, a lot of times they have great prices on dog food, too.

When you do pick a new food, be sure to transition over to it slowly, to avoid loose poops, if you can.

And, I agree, lots of rest and limited exercise for a few days to see if the limp clears itself.

We had a dog develop a limp when he was ~5 or 6 months old... our best guess? he must have slept on it wrong. We had x-rays and everything (over-worried first puppy parents)... no one mentioned pano (not sure why not? is pano a new diagnosis??)... but after a few days it just went away.

Hope he feels better soon!
