8 month old Cane Corso ears won't stand... advice welcome

I have an 8 month old cane corso and we jad him cropped at 12 weeks. We have since taped and taped and taped his ears and they still won't stand. They lay in the middle of his head. I am beginning to regret the crop...but the vet says that he could be 1 before they stay up. He also stated that if after he is one year old and they still aren't standing we can put an implant in. Any suggestions?

I don't know to much about cropping, but my understanding is that a good crop should stand by itself. Maybe someone else with more experience can give a better answer here.

Ps. He is still Cute!

I have never had ears that didn't stand on their own, sometimes a bit stubborn on one needing to be posted but never heard them sometimes taking until a year.

I agree. A Good crop should not need posting. Did you take him to a vet that does this re regularly? The breeder I got Cora from told me that his vet does them all the time and has never had an issue, for it really is an art. Axel got his done by our local vet and his are a bit uneven. But it gives him character! I will say that if I get another Corso, I won't have their ears done unless they are done already. Cora's ears were already done when we got her. Her ears are perfectly cropped. I'm not sure if there's anything you can do to fix them, but I would suggest calling a vet who does them on the regular for advice.

He's very handsome!!

The vet had photos of crops he had done in cane corso pups. He's been doing it for over 30 years. He said out pup had weak ears. But thr last I took him (2weeks ago) the vet said keep posting. And if they don't stand he mentioned thr implant.

Thank you. I think he is too... I did take him to a reputable vet. But I'm not sure if I should take him elsewhere for another opinion. I'll keep massaging his ears and hopefully the weakened cartilage will eventually strengthen and his ears will stand on their own.

It never hurts to get another opinion, IF you are not satisfied... until you are satisfied. Just don't tell your first vet or unfortunately, they won't be very happy.
