7 weeks to 26 weeks dry food feeding question

Hello all!

I have been searching this thread for feeding suggestions for a CC pup between the ages of 7 weeks to 26 weeks (6 months).

I learned that you can keep the puppy eating what the breeders have him on till week 14 or so and then sloooooowly transition him into an adult 'all life stages' kibble.

I actually read a lot of suggestion saying exactly that.. use an adult 'all life stage' kibble instead of a puppy kibble.

So if anyone can elaborate and gear me to the right direction towards your top 3 adult 'all life stage' kibble you would transition a 14 week pup to, I would really appreciate it.

I raised Newfoundlands for 35yrs for show and always weaned them straight to a high quality adult dry kibble.

Simple rule of thumb I follow for giant pups: 22-25% protein, calcium and phosphorus 1:1 ratio each at about 1%, first ingredients meat and named meat meal ( not just "meat meal ", but lamb meal or chicken meal, etc. ) and if you choose to feed grain, no corn or wheat, no soy. The fewer the ingredients, the better.

I get orthopedically healthy dogs from pups raised on 30-40% protein ……..calories are what pushes growth . best I can make of it , calories in dog food come from 3 sources , carbohydrates , protein and fat ……….. I’d rather my pups get their calories from protein than carbohydrates , they both are similar in calories per gram , fat is an essential part of a dogs diet but calorie dense , protein is essential , carbohydrates are not …….. I personally would rather my pups ate fat and protein than carbs ……… too much fat makes for too much calories , so if most of my pups calories are coming from protein , to me , that’s a good thing ………….. what were premium kibbles in the 1980’s ?
