6 week old ddb with adult staffordshire bull terrier

Hi everyone I'm graham. I'm from the UK and I've gotten myself a 6 week old ddb boy. I already have a 10 year old staffy bitch. She's temprimrntal with adult dogs outside my house. Anyways I've had my boy 3 days now he's been trying to play with her by bowing and barking at her. Hes took it too far twice and she smacked at him and he walked away. Today I had the 2 dogs in the yard to do their business. As the puppy had a wee I made a fuss of him and done the same to the staff but he charged up to her barking in her face and she sort of pinned him down. The pup cried but as soon as I shouted at the older dog she left him. She's also always stepping over him etc etc to show her dominance but I normally tell her to lie down and leave him. Is there anything I should stop and or not let happen? I already feed the older dog 1st and give the same amount if affection

I just went through a similar introduction. Except the pup was a 9 week old bull mastif and the other dog is a 8 year old weenie dog. The main difference in my situation is that the puppy is bigger than the older dog.
The weenie had no tolerance for the puppy. She would snap at him and growl if that didn't work she would bite him. All of that just made him want to play more. But the older dog is starting to come around after a couple weeks and plays with him some but only when she's in the mood but he has also learned when she has had enough and leaves her alone.

Sounds like you Arden doing Everything right but it will take a little time. Just continue to spread the attention out to both of them so the older dog doesn't feel left out.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. She seems to tolerate him a bit more than the 1st day we got him. I'm just a bit scared at the moment incase the staffy tries to hurt or even kill cause she's bigger heavier and alot stronger. I don't think she would go that for to be honest but you can never trust a dog 100% all the time

More likely she'll show him how best to act and teach him his dog manners.
Keep an eye on it to make sure she doesn't go too far but if she pushes him off, or pins him after harsh looks and growling he may learn what harsh looks and growling mean and avoid the pinning and biting next time.
