"43 socks found in Great Dane's stomach"

It is crazy!!! I have seen a lot of people saying the owner is horrible and maybe they needed to watch him closer but I have a Great Dane sock thief who is the reason you will see socks on top of the tallest things in the house and I keep a constant eye on him but he still manages to grab one on occasion. Lucky for me, he only wants to chew them but there is no doubt they would be accidentally swallowed if left long enough. So......I can only imagine how difficult it would be to save the socks in a house with children (I am not sure that is such in this case just thinking).......My grandkids come over and I actually take all of their socks. LOL They are little and do pretty good but it never fails that I see Magnum making a run for any sock that manages to get "free". Obviously if I had small children living in my house I wouldn't be able to ban socks and it would be pretty easy for they to get loose in the house, too. I will assume that he did not sit down and eat a basket of 43 1/2 socks on the day he got sick so probably it was done along the way in his three years of sock stealing. I am not saying they are wrong or right...Just pointing out that it may not be because they suck as pet owners.

I agree, Kris. Having never lived with a sock theif, I cannot imagine the obsession, LOL. After awhile, it probably turns into a game of sorts...

And since Danes are so tall...man, you gotta be pretty sharp to keep everything high and out of sight.

It's funny how it's just socks, though- well, for this Dane anyway. No love for underwear? :)

I saw this on Facebook, too.

Unbelievable... that's a lot of socks. Maybe I don't have as many socks as other people because I think I would have noticed if that many socks were going missing... >.>

we do love our socks over here in Oregon...even have a store that sells only socks!

I couldn't imagine dealing with something like this though...hiding socks for fear my dog would eat them. UGH! Yet another reason I love Kujo

At least the Dane came through just fine...hopefully the owners will learn to be OCD about where they store their socks.

Magnum is the perfect gentleman in the house. Never tears anything up, bothers food...Nothing EXCEPT socks! LOL He would like it to be a game but since I am very good about never letting a sock free and there aren't enough people to count on to do so......He is out of luck! Oh yeah......up WAY high. My son come over the other day and asked me why n the world I had dirty socks on top of the refrigerator. LOL I stepped in Ruger's peanut butter sandwich drool and had to take them off immediately so I stashed them there momentarily. Magnum can also open doors of any kind and although I have locks up high, I still keep a basket in the garage where ALL socks must go when they are taken off because the garage door is one he can't open. And yes.....Socks only. :)

LMAO. I wish it were that easy but Magnum actually loves freshly washed socks just as much as the dirty ones. :)
They should wash their feet so their socks don't smell like Cheesy Fish Burgers.
