1yr old Male CC only 66.4 lbs (Rescued)

My male CC is 1yr old & stands 25 inches high at the shoulder, but he only weighs 66.4 lbs. We did get his weight from the vet shortly after I rescued him a few weeks ago, and he was diagnosed with whipworm, and hookworm. The vet will be giving us medication for him, but im concerned because he doesnt look overly skinny per se". His ribs show a little, but he doesnt seem to eat dry food all that great. Anyone who can help me please feel free to message me! last question why is he so little all growth charts show he should be double the size? :(

Weight wise he doesn't look bad. He looks like he could use some exercise to build muscles. I would say he's going to be small so no point on going by weight charts, so long as he looks healthy.

I suspect his size is an early nutrition issue. Unless he suddenly starts growing with good food he'll likely never be big. Getting rid of the worms will help. Proper food will help. Some exercise, a few pounds more, get rid of the worms and see what happens.

I agree he doesn't look too thin but needs to build a little mass. A lot of that could be that he is still young

i'm not even going to compete with others as far as the knowledge on this breed goes, i am knew to CCs myself, but both types of worms can cause weight loss and/or inability to gain so getting rid of them and feeding him properly will probably cause him to do a complete 180. Chances are he's been fed can food which is why he won't eat dry very well. I personally would start mixing a good can food in with his dry food decreasing the amount until he's on the dry only. Good luck with the fella.

Thank You all for the help. The Vet will be giving us the medication for him tomorrow! Finally after days my little guy can be as big as he is supposed to be or at least close... Now for the golden question does he look purebred to you guys? When I google CC he looks just like the ones in the images... Im hopeful that he is, but either way he is a wonderful dog that I will love. I just really had my heart set on a large dog. How much exercise does a 1yr old CC need...Google gives very broad answers.

It is really hard to tell from the picture you provided...also, unfortunately, "purebred CC" is turning into a varying definition...you can see my CC in my avatar- they are very different types of CC

Glad to hear he is doing better. He is handsome. My CC is 9 months old, I walk her 2x a day for 30-45 minutes, I also have a fenced in yard that she gets to cut loose in :)

My Corso is 4 1/2 months old and I also walk her twice a day for 15-20 min. We are working our time up as she gets older. I also have a back yard she always play in. I wouldnt worry too much about how long at first, the walk is very important to bond with your new guy, so its a matter of getting to know him and how much he needs to build muscle and burn off energy. As soon as you start giving the worm medicine youll see them coming out in his poop and then the weight will pack on. Good luck!!!!

Most rescued dogs tend to be a little skinny when you first rescue them, overall he doesn't look that bad it terms of proportions. Some corsos tend to have a thinner build. Actually I would say Hammer's build is very similar to my corso shadow, you have to remember corsos don't stop growing until they're around 2. So with still some time to grow and with a great diet I think he can reach around 110 which is still a good size.
