12 EM not eating much

Our 12 month EM has not been interested in his food lately . For the
Past 2 weeks he barely eats 3-4 cups a day if that. I've tried mixing it with things he likes but he just turns his nose at it. He had a vet check last Week and is fine. Should I switch his food? Or is this a normal thing for this age? He's 150 lbs and is acting fine. I'm just a worried mom.

I have an 11 month old EM, and he gets in moods where he's not too interested in food for a day or two, but never longer than that. I'm curious how much he normally eats? Mines at 12 cups a day. Any concerns he may have ingested something he shouldn't have? We removed a bone from Lou's stomach when he was about 6 months old. Never a dull moment :) Hope he's feeling better soon!

It is pretty normal for a dog his age to go threw periods of eating very little or wanting to change their habits all together. Give it some time, one day it will suddenly be game on, and he will scarf everything in site! Don't worry, as long as he is eating something and drinking and eliminating, he is just fine. If he drops more than a good 5-10 lbs, then definately give the vet a call or visit.

Luie's Mom, what are you feeding your boy? I've been a mom to 6 EM boys over 20 years and have never fed 12 cups a day, but it depends on the K/cal per cup of your food choice. You may be just wasting money!

Thanks for the advice! This is our first EM, we are feeding Acana Pacifica about 6 cups daily. I've read a lot about people switching between 2 different foods...why is this?

My guy gets bored with his food. For a good year we were switching between flavors of TOW, but once they increased the amount of folic acid they used as a preservative he had stomach issues and we switched brands. He loved the new brand at first, but now not so much. I can understand,if I had to eat the same thing every day I'd get bored with it too! I add meat, yogurt, veggies, etc to help.
