10 Week Old Cane Corso Puppy's Ears Wont Stand

Hi everyone,

I've had my girl for 12 days now. She is about 10 weeks old. I had the breeder's vet crop her ears for me and I had the stitches removed yesterday. Her left ear stands perfectly but her right ear is floppy and is getting floppier as the days pass. I've read a little about the subject on various forums and websites and from what I gather I'm at the critical stage in ear development for cropping. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can train her ear to stand, or am I looking at an implant or re-cropping? (sorry the picture is sideways, something keeps going wrong with the upload)

Tape it. Check out diy method of taping. The Dobie guides may be helpful.

Don't worry too much. The stitches just came out so they should be standing soon. The crop looks good to me. Just be patient is all. Massaging them helps as well.

Also once the ears are fully healed of scabbing you can tape them up and help them stand really well. Apollos were taped for about 5 days and the difference was incredible after taping them.

Key thing, be patient and don't worry too much they will stand.

My boy had the same type of situation. his ears were done at 12 weeks and I was a bit concerned . The ear that wouldn't stand after the crop was upright in about a week or so . Once the scabs come off it should be fine . I posted pics and the same type of concern back in July 2013. His ears look great at 10 months . My vet taped them after 10 days for about a week. Good luck.

Give it some time. As the pup learns to use the cropped ears they should start standing. I had the same issue and I'm not even gonna tape them now. At least not for a month or so because she is controlling them perfectly now. Took a couple weeks after I got stitches out. Massaging them after they are fully healed helps too.

No need or an implant or another surgery, but if it was me I would tape them, or have a vet do it if you are not comfortable with taping.

Leave them be. No need to tape. It took Solo's some time. They will stand on their own. One usually stands up before the other. Let nature take it's course.
