[h=2]I also posted did question on the general forum - apologies
I have 10 month old CC Mastiff that I got at 7 months old. She was most likely left in a kennel when she didn't sell at a couple of months old. So - she was never house trained, or spent much if any time in a house. It was clear that she was sitting in her own urine/didn't bother her when in the kennel. The breeder has a large amount of dogs in nice kennels - but it appears they spend most if not all time outside in kennels.
It is likely she was never given free access to water. Upon arriving at my house she tried to dring the 2 1/2 gallons of water in the water bowl. Of course she urinated all over the house. She was brought to the Vet the day after - no medical issues - all behavioral.
She is no longer on water restriction as she has learned to drink "normally" and that the water is always there. She has learned to NOT go in the house when I'm at home, and she holds it during the night -if I'm there to teach her, she learns quickly.
However, when when I'm at work whe will go in the bedroom (gated off) at least 2 times during the day, even as my dog have a petsitter that comes in daily for 45 minutes.
She is so good in every other way. Gets along with the other dogs, has learned what it is to be a house pet, learns quickly, is playfull, submissive to me - but - she goes in the house.
I tried crate training. Everything is fine if I'm at home. When I leave she rolls the crate!!! and breaks out of it. She is clearly inpanic, and has hurt herself. I tried a few times, and feel that the crate may not ever work.
I'm not a novice dog owner. i have had dogs for 14 years, done therapy dog work, trained challenging, aggressive dogs.
She has me stumped.
Please help! Any and all responses are appreciated.[/h]
