10 lb weight drop since winter, WTH!

Well I have been stressing about this all week and I am not sure if it was just puppy fat or winter weight but in mid winter Jade was 130# and last Thursday she weighed in at 120#. She is also in heat and I didn't notice if she lost any last time because her weight was climbing so fast 5/6 months ago. Also she is losing fur, this I know happens when they are in heat and our temps are climbing fast up here too so she is bound to throw some fur. But 10lbs in such a short amount of time is bothersome.

How old is she now? Has she grown taller? Been having more exercise? When did she last have any blood work done? Any changes in appetite/drinking of water? Any change of diet?

10lbs does seem like alot, but where do you draw the line between her acting off cause she's in heat and acting off cause she's sick? Is her appatite normal? I know Apollo's drops when it gets hot, and he prooved capable of loosing 6+lbs in the matter of a couple weeks last time he got stressed into not eating....

There was one or 2 days where she left food in her bowl but when I started to pick it up she begged for it so she did eat it. She has been in a hot box for 2 weeks, even though I am parking in the shade with all the windows down and the moon roof open the car is still hot. I have been taking her out every hour and wetting her down to make sure she does not get too hot. I was able to bring her inside work today as the temps started to climb. I told people I would just clock out and go home if I could not so they conceded. Even the Executive Assistant to the CEO came in to pet her today. She has gotten taller her head is getting bigger, and she is 14 months and 11 days old. She has never had blood work done and she has DE in her diet so worms would be a slim chance. She is not a heavy water drinker due to the RAW diet even on hot days she wont even finish a gallon of water, close to a half. She is energetic and still provokes Dozer to play when we get home from work. Maybe it was some winter weight and baby fat, I just don't know.

If she is eating/pooping ok I would wait until she finishes her heat and then re-evaluate her.

She's getting ready for summer, girls gotta watch her figure, lol.

On a serious note how bad is she losing her hair? Are there bald spots?

There are no bald spots just loose hairs. What is odd is she is only dropping the longer lighter colored hairs and she is getting darker and her invisible brindle is starting to show more. She has a strange coloring, the is a reddish brown but in the right light you can see tiger stripes, now that is starting to show more. She had her first time ever diarria yesterday but it was hot and coworkers gave her too many treats. Ham slices and avocacodo from a burrito was included. I will have to ask them to refrain from such things.

please find an aternative to having dog in car. so dangerous. even with windows down and shade. that could be part of her problem. if it is warm enough to have to "wet her down" its too warm to be in a car.

Yep you are right which is why I brought her inside, way to hot and thankfully she is just about over with her heat and should be able to stay home in the nice cool yard. I did keep a thermomiter in the car and the inside temps were only slightly higher than the outside temps so she was not in danger she was just not comfortable.

My em's always drop weight in early summer, more in the hottest months, then pack it back on in the fall. As long as there is no signs of worms and she is eating, I would not worry. Being in season can really make a girl crabby!
