The woes of a pup in heat

As soon as I realized Kahlua was indeed in heat I ordered the diapers. But it was a two day shipping time and they arrived 8 hours too late to save my sleep shirt.

Last night we were all asleep in bed and I woke to the sound of Diesel noisily licking himself. It also startled Kahlua awake who immediately jumped up and ran to my head and then shook herself... as soon as she shook herself I could feel wetness landing all over my arms and face.... like indoor rain.

Switch on the lights and its like a horror movie. My face and arms are covered in blood as is my night shirt. I wasn't as disturbed by it as I would have thought but I am a bit sad about the night shirt. It was one of my favorites (it says Send Coffee on it).

First thing in the morning the diapers arrived on our doorstep.... Just a few hours too late to save my night shirt.

The looks Kahlua gives me are hilarious. She does not like her diaper but since I am not super into the Carrie look she will have to deal.

Also My dogs are being too adorable as I work.
Totally snuggling at my feet.

They are so-o-o-o sweet. Your poor princess. This woman stuff stinks! But, when she's at the right age and development, suddenly life becomes easier. Sadly no puppies, but also, no puddles. It does get better! Hang In There!

Pippa is on her third heat right now and she is much better at cleaning up after herself. I don't use diapers unless expecting company and have to open up living room (carpeted) or if we're going in the car, as I was cautioned that leaving diapers on for more than a few hours at a time significantly escalates the chance of infection and we do not want that. I have a dedicated mop and some microfiber cloths that I use to clean up after her. She is a bit more annoying this time. She seems to think 13 week old Dexter should be servicing her!! Poor little guy isn't equipped for this attention and he's constantly being backed into corners as she tries to make him mount her! Or his head gets stuck between her legs and yes, he comes out a mess. ‍♀️

Oh yes, a good option instead of diapers are men's boxers. Put them on backwards so tail goes through peeper hole, and they're loose enough to allow airing, but effectively catch the drops of blood.

Thanks for the boxer tip. I noticed her vaginal area looking a little swollen and irritated last night. I think the diaper sags too much and rubs her so I removed it. Keeping an eye on it now and just letting her be out in the open.. blood or no blood.

The boxers might be a nice alternative though :)

I think she's ok as the area will be quite red and swollen anyway, it's perfectly normal.
