How do you remove the dog smell from furniture?

Seriously we have cloth couches and they smell like dog. I really don't like this and would like to get the smell out any easy suggestions?

When you get new furniture I recommend homereserve.com you can remove the covers are wash them depending on the fabric you chose. I finally was able to get a set for living room and family room. Sofa.jpgLoveseat.jpg

Everything from the covers on the arms to the cushions can be taken off and washed. http://homereserve.com

Vacuuming weekly to get rid of the hair and dander and then Febreeze - IMO the pet formula isn't any better than the original.

You could also spritz with one of the enzymatic deodorizers, like Simple Solution or Nature's Miracle.

Lovesac is another sectional/furniture option with completely washable & replaceable covers on all surfaces (although, homereserve looks to be much better priced!). We have them, but have never had to wash any of the covers yet. We keep all surfaces covered with either blankets or towels and then just wash them periodically.

I absolutely cannot stand the smell of Febreeze! It lingers for so long and is almost worse than doggy smell, lol. However, they just came out with a fragrance-free product, still Febreeze but has absolutely zero smell to it, and it works VERY WELL for odors on fabrics. I have a cloth sofa and have the same issue (what's a sofa with no giant dog on it?) and the fragrance-free Febreeze is a great product. I also like baking soda and vinegar, but you need to leave that in place for a good while, then vacuum it up.

I have both fabric and leather, I encourage them towards the leather which in the climate we live in would be the best by far choice however when it comes to the fabric which they do like to snuggle on (most of the time ugh) I use (Purina Petlife Bedding Spray) I have microfiber throws which I wash every other day as they dry in like 10 mins and that seems too keep any odours at bay :)

You can take the furniture outdoor for sunshine or use scented bleach.

For long term, you need keep your dogs far away from furniture or keep them clean before accepting them indoor

Buy leather. Our mastiff has not torn the leather and she jumps (as a mastiff does) on the couch everyday. Hair still gets in the ends of the couch and between the seats/seams. I've had cloth and leather with my dogs over the years. Leather is the only way to go.

I use GET OFF dog cleaner neutralizer a unique formula for indoor and outdoor use. It cleans the area foulded by your pet and neutralizes the odor.

rent a carpet cleaner, they have handheld attachments for furniture, I just did this to my couch to remove the drool and bits of rawhide he chews on the couch when we aren't home.
