YShe said she was not bred like the short stocky ddb but a more athletic type is this at all possible.

2nd pic looks identical head
I am sure that is a line she gave you as a defense. I am not aware of there being two lines of DDB being bred (short/stocky vs athletic)...
Not like Field Labs being bred to be distinct from show/bench Labradors...there IS a difference there...

Go here for AKC's description of how a DDB should look: (I know you're not in the US, but this should help)
http://www.akc.org/breeds/dogue_de_bordeaux/index.cf
Piece of history on DDB also through AKC website:
"The Dogue de Bordeaux was once classified into three varieties, the Parisian, the Toulouse and the Bordeaux, types which were bred depending on the region of France and the jobs they were required to do. Ancestral Dogues de Bordeaux had various coat colors, such as brindle and majority of white markings that carried fully up the legs. They had scissor bites in some regions, undershot in others, big heads, small heads, large bodies and small bodies, very inconsistent in type. Another controversial aspect was the mask, red (brown), none or black. The Dogues de Bordeaux of Bordeaux of the time also sported cropped ears, for fighting purposes. Regardless, they all had a general type similar to today's Dogue de Bordeaux."
As you can see, the paragraph above suggests there are 3 different varieties of DDBs. Don't know if that holds true to the Dogues in the US vs. Dogues bred & born in France. Something I'm reading up on now to learn something new.

No it's not possible IMHO. The fact she said you could get your money back if people said she wasn't a Dogue de Bordeaux and also says she is not bred as a stocky Dogue de Bordeaux but and "athletic type" tells me she knew she was defrauding you from the get go. Because those statements say to me she knew the dog would never bear a resemblance to a Dogue de Bordeaux because that's not what the dog was. I have seen some poorly bred dogues but even with too big of underbites smallish heads or whatever other faults they have you can see the dogue de Bordeaux in them. Pip as beautiful as she is looks like Am Staff x Dogue de bordeaux I have seen in rescue.
