( lol when i say "we" i mean i did all the work getting the cc i did alot of reseach )
well i know the breeder want me to have him fixed by 6mons and send the vet papers stating that it was done also he wanted pictures of him every 2months and want to check on him 3x within a year and also he was very stricked on how we take care of the puppy until he truns a 1yr!??!?!?!?
also its seemed that breeder wasnt sure about me n my husband having cc but once we told him that had experince with large breeds like dobe, shepherd, dane, rotty, boxer, bully mix,neo mix he wasnt to worried anymore
6 Months is too Young. You should wait until he is around 18 months and more developed. Can't believe your breeder would say 6 months. Does it matter as he is no going to be a Neutered show dog.
im not sure but what can i do to fight this i guess really does matter him to b a show dog so does this mean he is a bad breeder, not that i dont want to have him fixed but now u made me scare thats its too early for n it may hurt him
i didnt know there was a clear starting age limit to fix a dog
There are pros and cons both ways. (Please don't panick... it isn't horrible to fix early but with a mastiff the longer you wait it seems to be better for them)
When they are fixed early you tend to leave the growth plates open longer, thus leading to taller but lighter dogs. There have been links to higher rates of cancer and I know there are some articles on here about it.
Mastiffs tend to mature 18 to 24 months so most breeders tend to say not to fix until at least after a year. That being said from the breeder side of things (and this doesn't apply to you but to people I am evaluating as owners) if I don't think that people can deal with an intact corso (my females are the hard asses but the males put on the show and a lot of people can't deal with an intact male when he is "showing off"), sometimes dealing with heat cycles is just too much for people (I understand this it SUCKS!!!!), some people live in an area where others don't keep their animals under control and it can cause a problem for your dog to be intact (this is mainly with females).
If you are comfortable with him being intact then contact your breeder and explain your reasoning. Look up some of the articles and offer to send him some and get their opinion. In the end if you signed the contract and they aren't willing to budge then you don't have a lot of wiggle room but I don't know too many breeders who aren't willing to work with an owner who has valid reasons.
