Garage Door

We recently built a garage, and Enzo is terrified of the door. Not a big deal at all, but it's been a while since I've seen any new posts here, so I thought I'd ask for suggestions.

It's good to "see" you. I hope the family is doing well. Enzo's looking great! How old is he now?

As for the garage door, I'd just do some counter conditioning and desensitization training at distance. Super high value treats and from far enough away that he's not afraid and have someone operating the door. Shovel treats in his face. Slowly move closer. If he gets afraid then move back to work from where he's comfortable for longer. I know you already know all this though.

He's getting close to a year and a half now.

Hello, Enzo is so beautiful. Really Really nice looking dog. have you gotten Enzo use to the garage door? Zeela is very skittish of alot of things. like a blowing flag scares her, even a lot of wind freaks her out. lol

Hi what a handsome boy! Bella is afraid of dark floors.... I had to desensitized her with a blanket and bacon. I would drap the blanket across the floor covering the path I wanted her to take....she would go as far as the blanket then I would bribe her with treats to go past the blanket....each day I would shorten the blanket coverage area....until we got to just a small floor mat. Treats and encouragement goes a long way in our house. Let us know how you're all doing with this....and good luck!

Where it's winter we have not done very much work on this. I'll throw a racquetball, his favorite toy, in the garage with him and he is willing to go near the door. At this point just trying to take away the initial fear. I'll work on the door more this summer.

Last night my wife had just come home and Enzo and I were just outside the back of the garage. He started barking because he knew someone had come to the house, but stayed a good distance away until she came out of the garage. Big baby!
