A Diesel and Kahlua Photo Update

It has been a busy few weeks for me. Unpacking, putting the house together bit by bit and and another week long visit back to California for work. The whole time I was in California I missed my dogs, my husband, my kitty and my new home fiercely.

We finally got the wood burning stove installed (right in time for a crazy heat wave).

But when you find the exact stove you want used for nearly half the price you don't turn your back on that kind of gift. So here is our beautiful new stove that won't likely see any use for a bit.

One of the first photos I took of the stove was with the flash because I wanted to capture the blue green color. The dogs did not care for the flash and it gave Diesel demon eyes so I turned the flash off for the pics above. But I have to share the one flash photo because Kahlua's tongue. lol

In addition to the stove we found a frog in our hot tub. We actually relocated the little frog into a nearby stream. And she came back!!! Argh!!!

frog2.jpg

Not sure how to keep this little frog away. I understand frogs are dangerous for dogs and my hot tub is not going to be a great place for her once they come service it. But she just won't stay away.

We had a bunch of dandelions pop up in the yard. And while I find it hard to believe the dogs have never seen a dandelion they sure act like that is the case. First there was curiosity.

But after sniffing the dandelion Diesel became wary.

And then he decided it was a threat.

And once it was determined that this dandelion was super dangerous he went into guard dog mode.

I accidentally hit send too soon and also ran out of images I could attach.... So here is Diesel guard dogging against the dandelion.
This is my favorite of the series. He looks so crazy. lol

You may be wondering about now what conclusion Kahlua came to in regards to the dandelion. Well Kahlua decided it might be edible.

begging-dandelion.jpg

Once she decided the dandelion must be food it was nothing but begging and licking lips from our girl.

She is a cute little begger though. And she can hold that stand a ridiculously long time.

One of the advantages of some of my business trips is that occasionally there are give aways at conferences. Some of the giveaways include stuffed animals. At the latest conference I was able to obtain a dinosaur for the pups (well a couple of dinosaurs). I tried really hard to get them to play "gentle" with the dino but as soon as my back turned for a few minutes it was open season on gutting dinosaurs.

When Diesel saw me turn around and notice the destruction he went into guilty dog mode.

I actually have a few more photos left to go through so you may be inundated with more of my insanity. Also my dad decided I am a good photographer and got me a real camera so I will be playing with that. Only one of these photos was with the real camera (the one of the frog where the wing is sticking out of its mouth).

You are a good photographer. Love seeing your pics. The stove is beautiful. Great color.

Too funny Diesel growling at the dandelion ! And Kaluha is a cutie. She looks so much like a boxer in that pose standing up.

She looks very boxer. I don't see much of the cane corso or bulldog in her appearance.

We also put together a nice sitting area on our upper deck that the pups so kindly model in front of for me.

And I caught BrrBeary being extra cute the other day as well.

Beautiful pictures, as usual. The pups look great, and I love the dangerous dandelion provoking Diesel into fight mode...so amazing. And your wood stove is elegant and beautiful. Right now it is cold and beautiful, but one day (far too soon), you will be snuggled up in front of it with the pups and your hubby and you'll appreciate more than it's beauty, You'll Be Glad For The Heat!

I'm very glad that you are happy and that you have settled in. You deserve your little piece of heaven on earth. Blessings on all of you.

I know it's wrong but the funniest thing was putting the dandelion behind my back and watching him turn all sweet as pie again then showing it to him and watching the fangs come out. Poor Diesel. I couldn't help laughing.

Diesel and the dandelion is hysterical. I wish you could get a video of you hiding it and then bringing it out. I'm laughing just thinking about it. Everyone looks very happy in your new home. Kahlua's boxer genes really are very apparent. She looks very like my Al in the standing picture - a pose that all of my young boxers can hold for a very long time. Diesel looks very sweet in his bow tie collar.

I wish I had thought to do some video. I'm just glad I caught some photos though. I constantly find it funny how my 1/2 boxer dog looks all boxer and my 1/2 DDB doesn't look at all DDB. I guess it's all just a great science experiment when it comes to genetics. :p

It can be hilarious just what they decide is dangerous at times. Kryten loves snow, snowflakes however put him into full guard mode but only if there is no snow on the ground already. If there is already snow on the ground the snowflakes don't get any reaction at all. I gave up trying to figure that one out.

Hmm that is an odd one. I'm looking forward to seeing how mine respond the first time they see snow! They've never ever seen it before but in the new place they are likely to see it eventually.

Another weird thing I notice with Diesel is he can't tell the difference between the doorbell on the tv versus for real. Anytime there is a doorbell in one of our tv shows or movies he goes into full guard dog warning bark mode. Although he is starting to learn "TV" as a command. So now when it happens we say "TV", point at the tv and he calms down quicker. I've also found since we moved he doesn't respond as well to the "safe" command anymore. Now we not only have to go look but we have to thank him and tell him what a good dog he is before we use "safe" and that is the only thing that will get him to release guard dog mode when someone is too close to the house (like a cat he doesn't know, the neighbor in their own yard, etc.).
