New EM Puppy Bane

So he gains around 5-6 lbs a week. That's perfect. I think even if you keep him lean, he's going to be a very big guy. He's so cute. He has very expressive eyes. :)

Hey Tyler, I think Bane needs a baby Alabai brother. I think you would be good with a CAO. :)

I wish but I really don‘t have the space. Bane is doing fine with a medium size backyard but a CAO would probably need much more. Also, feeding two bears isn‘t really in my budget right now.
How much exercise does an adult CAO need?

They need moderate exercise. They actual decrease activity as they mature. So I would say a large well fenced yard to run around in, or 2 daily walks.

And I know what you mean about the food!

That‘s good to know. I‘ll definitely have to do more research on the breed (other than watching YouTube documentaries). Are they generally good with other dogs at home? Logan seems to be ;).

I wonder, is this something that anyone would really know until the dog comes into his/its temperament at maturity?

If raised with them, yes.
Check out Katerina's instagram.
She has pics of her pups in their new homes. In the pics the people have dogs, and some have babies. I think they're a great breed and somewhat misunderstood. You just have to do consistent training and socializing with them. Can't let them think they are running the show ;)

Right, probably not. I was just wondering, since I know that April has done a lot of research and her breeder is extremely knowledgeable too.

I was wondering too. I know very little about the breed. I just know that other breeds can change temperament at maturity, even with consistent training and socialization and you sometimes don't know until 2 years or so in.

I‘ve seen quite a few threads about this subject on the forum (some are years old). In certain cases, the dogs have drastically changed at a certain point in time. I would generally expect puppies to be "softer" than adults, but kt probably varies by breed, genetics and is influenced by the environment. I‘m sure April will keep us posted on Logan‘s development.

Renat ( breeder) also breeds Welsh corgis. His Alabai are good with them. Now I don't know about 2 adult males, so maybe Bane needs a little sister ;)

Just kidding with you. But I do think you would be good with an Alabai. You are very dedicated.

Also meant to ask you the measurements of Banes neck. And do you find that it is consistently changing in size, as his weight is. Are you constantly having to adjust his collar.

It us constantly changing. We have gone through quite a lot of collars already. I haven‘t measured it in a while, but he probably isn‘t far from 30in.

That's big. Thanks. I'll keep that in mind when shopping for collars. Don't want to spend a lot on something that will be soon replaced. Do you have a favorite brand?

I know he's definitely a cutie in the bandana

We have been using different ones, but I did like Kong. In the future, we will probably get him a customized one. It just didn‘t make sense before because of the steady growth.

We used Kong too. It had a lot of room for adjustment. We liked it and only stopped using it because I found one on amazon that I could customize with her name.
