How does your dog signal it wants something

Kahlua has a funny way of letting me know she wants something when we are in bed or I am sitting.

Kahlua will come and try to sit on me and then turn her head around and put it right in my face. Sometimes she also licks me while doing this. Sometimes she stares at me nose to nose. But she has to actually be physically on me and close to me as possible when doing this.

She uses the same signal for all requests.

"I want the toy Diesel has." She sits on me and turns her head so her face is in my face.

"I want to go outside" She sits on me and turns her head so her face is in my face.

"I want to eat now." She sits on me and turns her head so her face is in my face.

"I want to eat some of what you are eating." She sits on me and turns her head so her face is in my face (she always gets scolded and pushed away for this one).

"I want the toy across the room" She sits on me and turns her head so her face is in my face.

"I want a bone." She sits on me and turns her head so her face is in my face.

So that is what it is like to have a Kahlua that wants something ^^

I don't know why all the photos are showing sideways though.

So what do your dogs do to show you that they want something?

Kryten will rest his head on something either near or on you and give a full sigh. Jiggers will alternate looking at you and whatever he wants. If that doesn't work he starts to get vocal starts with whining and progresses to barking.

Oh I am familiar with the big sigh. Diesel does that to me every now and again. It always cracks me up.

Kahlua reminds me so much of my Al. I just love red brindle.

Ella will bark, but usually just once. Al either barks or rings a bell. Roy? He doesn't bark. He's little and sweet and quiet. He rings the bell to go outside. He jumps straight up in the air to ask for toys. He's also the one with ME that has to have ground food and be fed by fork. He asks to eat by resting his chin on my leg or shoulder.

This is him asking to eat.

And this is him asking for his favorite toy, a green goblin mask.

Kahlua does that exact straight up jump when i am at the door letting her either out or in. She just cant contain her excitement and jumps up over and over until i either ask for a sit or open the door.

Lol, Roy does it when he comes in from potty time. He knows his brother is waiting on the other side for him and he wants me to open the door. There was a funny article some years ago describing how various breeds of dogs were made. It said boxers were made with springs. I laughed my butt off. I think your girl got that jumping trait from her boxer heritage.

This is Lettie asking my boyfriend for food. She is standing with her feet on the ground by the door, reaching around with her giraffe neck lol. She was only allowed there long enough for me to get a picture, bad girl. E4673C71-ACD2-4D5E-A788-B25C141E1FB9.jpeg

When Jake wants a treat or thinks it's time to eat he'll come up to me, look me right in the face and lick his lips with a little slurping sound to go along with it. When I've slept in on the weekend he puts his head on the bed right beside mine and blows in my face, as soon as I look at him I get the little lick and know he wants his breakfast, 7am is long enough to be sleeping in apparently!

Max lays on the floor and starts with a very quiet whine. It slowly increases in volume and then when he has not gotten what he wants it goes in to an explosive sizzle. I am a stay at home Canine Mommy and my husband travels so he doesn't see all that I see. 1st time he did this in front of the Hubby he thought something was wrong with him. Nope watch this...I lay down on the ground with him, rub his belly and sing Rock A By Baby to him. He melts in my arms. Yep, I created this monster :) Love it!

Gandalf is a water tart, he wont drink out of the water bowl unless its just come out the tap or even if the other 2 have sniffed it, so he comes to me nudges my arm then goes to water bowl and stares at it, when its near there food time budcuss will nudge the door where there food is. All 3 seem to know the exact time for bed they all sit in line near the treat tub i go to get it and all 3 run to there beds, i do love my boys haha

Haha Lettie is a bad girl sometimes! She also has a weird way of asking for water. I need a water bell like Boxergirl. Lettie just stands in the kitchen and stares us down if her water bowl is empty. View attachment 60439

Jarena, my mini schnauzer Sophie does the same thing. She stands in front the bowl and looks at it, then at me, then back at the bowl, then at me like seriously, where's the water? Dogs are frickin awesome!!
