Fish farts?

E8AC7DB3-504E-42E8-B802-447C89DA6AFB.jpeg We recently started giving Lettie salmon oil. Her skin is a little dry, nothing major, just thought it would be good for her. For her size, she is supposed to get 4 pumps a day. We have been doing 1 pump per day just to make sure it doesn’t upset her stomach. We also give her 1/2 a probiotic tablet every morning, we have been doing the probiotic for about 6 months. We only do 1/2 because I thought I could save a little money.

The problem is her farts STINK and she has been farting more since we started the fish oil. Does anyone else have this problem? Are we using the right fish oil? Maybe we should start giving her a whole probiotic tablet everyday? Or is there a different probiotic that works better? Help our stinky girl before we pass out!

We almost dies last night from suffocation. Death by farts. It smelled like a skunk in our room because of her butt. I’m used to mastiff farts.... but this fish oil made it 10 times worse!

Hahahahah! I live with boxers and they're known to be able to clear a room. Fish oil and fish food gives them terrible gas. It's one of the reasons I initially started feeding the dogs different protein sources. Try coconut oil maybe?

Your right, you can do a lot with coconut oil. My dog loves it too. And it COMPLETELY gets rid of fleas. It has something to do with the linoleic acid. But it's very messy to rub down a large breed dog w coconut oil. Also my dog really likes apple cider vinegar. That might help with the farts too, since it helps promote good flora.

Ok where do I buy coconut oil? Amazon would be great, but what kind? And how much? She is about 110 pounds. Thanks for all the replies!
I buy it on chewy.com / pet post coconut oil. I find great prices on chewy.com, the smart stick treats I buy her are $13.00 per 10 pack in the pet store & on chewy.com they are about $7.50 per 10 pack. She eats like a horse so I try to buy in quantity and free shipping after you spend $50, makes sense. check it out.

Nearly all grocery stores carry coconut oil now. Walmart, Target, Amazon etc.
You want to get unrefined organic. I like Carington Farms. It has a nice taste.
I'm not sure how much to give her, but I give mine a teaspoon every couple of days.

Cool, I didn't even know they made it specifically for dogs. I'm gonna look into that. :)

Yeah, chewy.com has great prices and deliver fast, I order from them say 5pm and they delivered it to me 9am the next day. This particular coconut oil says you can give them up to 1 teaspoon per pound each day, so Zeela can get up to 8 teaspoons per day & she loves the taste of it.

I don't think you need to buy one made specifically for dogs unless it's a significant savings over regular unrefined coconut.

Zeela, Big Lots is a discount store.

That's what I thought, we don't have them here. I agree, I just buy from chewy.com because I found them to be the cheapest.

You make your own soap, I've always wanted to try, but it intimidates me. So we opt for Castile Soaps. Is it difficult?

It's not hard to make soap. It takes a lot of learning about the properties of various oils and how they mix together to make a GOOD bar of moisturizing, long lasting soap. It's also very important to observe strict safety protocols. Lye accidents are bad. Castile is a great soap and it's one of the easiest to make, imo. It does require a long cure time to become hard and mild. I used to have a bath and body business. Soaps, butters, lotions, etc. Now I just make for family and personal use. Sometimes I offer special deals at xmas time. I'm that weird eccentric lady with the crazy hair, lots of animals, hippie clothes, and herbs hanging in the trees. Lol.
