Back from Germany and the Pups are So Glad!

We just got back this weekend from our weeklong trip in Germany for my business conference and meetings. The work was long and hard but we got to play for the last day and a half we were there and the first half day there as well.

Of course, we missed the puppies terribly the whole time we were there. Everywhere we went we noticed dogs were welcome. All of the palace and castle grounds people were walking their dogs. Even the second hotel we went to had dogs in residence.

I had no idea that Bavaria was so dog friendly. If I could transport our entire lives there I would in a heart beat. Everything is clean and green and beautiful and dog friendly. So many wonderful places to hike and walk the dogs.

Here are the dogs snuggling my husband when we returned. He was too sleepy to return the favor and get pics of me snuggling them so you will have to take my word for it that I got just as many snuggles and as much love as he did. <3

They are so cuddly! Glad to hear your trip went well. It's so sad to be in such a dog-friendly place without your dogs!

lol I will definitely share! There are stories to go along with pictures as well of course so it may have to be a multipart series as I find the time and organize the photos.

I am hoping I will have magazine photos to share any day now as well. The magazine featuring the photos of me (and rumor has it the cover photo is me) is suppose to be published at the beginning of June so I have been waiting on pins and needles. Luckily work has been kind enough to keep me so busy that the time is passing quickly. :p

The conference I had to go to for work in Germany was a short 5 minute drive from one palace - Schloss Schleissheim

We never paid for the indoors tour (which I semi regret) but we did visit the palace a few times and wander the grounds. The grounds were huge and beautiful with geometric hedge mazes that opened up to many hidden circles. Some of the paths were clearly less used and overgrown with wild flowers.

I had fun twirling in the giant hidden circles and blowing wishes on the wish flowers.

The fountains were lovely and on the weekend local families would visit and the children would play in the fountains.

Fabulous pictures, I love the maze!

Thanks Vicki! I was also rather fond of that maze! It is the little kid in me. I just imagine fairy tales around every corning walking through the maze. And those sunken circles in the centers of the maze made me think of fairy circles so I had to run and dance and spin in them. It only felt right. My husband loved the fountains and other water displays. The whole thing was rather impressive. Although after we went home I looked up the inside of the palace which we never saw and kicked myself for not making an effort to go see the inside. Oh well. The outside was free and extremely charming as it was.

I particularly like the grounds and palace even though it was one of the smallest. So many fountains and statues.

That's weird. Those pictures weren't sideways when I looked earlier. I wonder what changed? Anyway, the grounds are beautiful! I would love to explore there.

This was one of three castles in the Bavarian Alps. All built by the same king (one of the Ludwigs). And we did go see them all. Linderhof was the only one that he managed to complete building of though before he mysteriously died. The common people were really mad at him for spending so much money building three extravagant castles. The insides were super opulent (no photography allowed inside). I was pretty bummed that the special indoor grotto with the canoe was closed down for renovations when we were there. I really wanted to see that.

Anyhow the king died before completing building of the other two castles. As soon as he died his uncle took over the kingdom and opened up all three castles as tourist attractions so they could start making back all the money he spent. Personally I think his uncle and other advisors killed him before there could be a revolt of the commoners.

Nik,

Awesome pictures. I‘m originally from Frankfurt and have been to Munich at least 100x. By far my favorite city. Have you had a chance to see the soccer stadium?

No I did not see the soccer stadium and didn't get to see much of Munich itself either sadly. My husband is not a big city fan and loses patience quickly if parking can't be found so central Munich was a no go both times we visited Germany. The first time we went years ago (not the trip photographed here) we made it to Nuremberg which is one of my favorite cities in the world after that visit and also to Dresden and lots of smaller towns during the journey. This latest trip was a quicker one and we ended up sticking to Bavaria and really just saw the area my conference was in and also Schwangau area around the castles. All beautiful areas of course.

I have not yet ever made it out to Frankfurt. I do hope to have many more visits to Germany in the future though as we both really fell in love with the country and the people there.

I‘m glad you‘ve enjoyed your visits. Finding parking in Munich is definitely a problem, so you are right. I‘d always recommend public transportation, which is generally fast, cheap, and reliable.

Frankfurt is somewhat interesting, but you should definitely add Hamburg and Berlin to your list, as well.

I can't believe I missed this thread. Great Pics! :) Happy almost 1st Anniversary.;)
I can't believe we are almost to our anniversary. Fingers crossed that we will be well on our way to owning our first home for the first anniversary.

I just got a mortgage agent's contact info and have a call with them this afternoon. eeeks.

Also going to be moving back to just the one job for a bit after today so life will get a lot more sane and manageable for me (or maybe not with the impending house hunt and move lol).
