I'm so happy to hear he's doing alright and the MRI results were normal. I second Karen, time to do a thorough search of the house and yard for anything he may have gotten into that would have caused that type of reaction.

I'm very glad it's either a one time thing or manageable. Very good news to start the day :)

Justice is great this morning. As a matter of fact I think they gave him speed instead of methadone. He is showing no side effects and is more rambunctious than he has ever been. I do need your help again. Especially, if you know anything about plant toxicity or plant identity. Sunday we had a guy come out and clean our fence line. He cleaned up behind himself pretty well, bagged or tied up limbs and vines and placing them out front for garbage pick up. However, you can't pick up every little thing. Around 15 years ago, we planted what I recalled being called a potato vine to grow into the chain length fence. I can't remember why( it may have been I found out they were possibly toxic or I was afraid it would hurt the fence) but through the years when I would have the fence cleaned, I ask them to get out any and all vines.

Fast forward to this week, I found what look like a potato, it was still round but mainly the skin, the inside had deteriorated away. Like I said it was still round and held it's shape but hollow. I had bent down and picked it up because I thought it was a mushroom but could it have been one of the old potatoes that we planted. (cont.)

Some questions

How many types of potato vines are there. I think I have found three or they might be one in the same, Sweet potato vines, potato vine with white flowers, purple potato vine. The sweet potato vine is toxic to dogs. Toxic Principles: LSD. Which may explain the violent reaction. He didn't have a seizure but an hallucination.

I can't remember if I found this before or after the seizure. I'm thinking before. It did not appear to have been eaten. Our other dogs have not been affected.

I'm not sure about that either. I bet you could ask the gardener and they might be able to tell you. But I'm not surprised the other dogs didn't touch it....because puppies are retarded...remember???

I bet the local animal poison control call center would know. We have a local number for central Illinois if you do not have one for your area.

I wish I had a gardener. He was just a guy that has had his hours cut(oil field) and was looking for extra work. :)

I have a call in to his vet and his Neuro doc. A&M is an agricultural school. I'm hoping they might have a department that they can get some answers from. Fingers crossed. :)

Glad to hear he is full of energy this morning! You local county extension/ag office could also be of assistance.

There are so many things the little guy could have ingested. Check with your local Extension/Ag office for a list of toxic plants in your area. They might even be able to recommend someone walk the property with you to help identify any plants of concern. In our area Master Gardner's have to do a certain amount of community service to keep our credentials current. I'll PM you my email address if you have any pictures of plants you're concerned about send them to me and I'll do my best to identify them for you. It's been 20+ years since I live in TX but doubt the plants have changed that much. LOL!

How dare they talk about my box that way! LOL

Looks like I needed to re-up my membership. Just did that. Not sure how long it will take to get my unlimited privileges back. My email is: debrafleetwood@hotmail.com

I left the camera in the truck that Debra took to work this morning. When she gets home I will get some pics of the bulb/potato that I found. Unfortunately, all vines or gone now. Thank you :)

I am so happy to hear that Justice is alright!!!! It's a scary time when your baby is sick and you don't know why. It's fabulous that we can turn to this forum for so much support and advice.

See if you have a master garderner in your town, check with a local garden club if you have one. Also plant nurseries as well as the ag dept in local schools are great places to contact.
