Athena is way more serious than D'Argo. That picture totally captures their personality difference.
New antics?
Uh, he is is some super barky stage. He barks at everyone he sees in the neighborhood like he wants them dead.
He's still too lazy to sit for a treat. He'll do it once and then flop on the floor like he just ran a marathon.
He ate about $400 worth of stuff last month.
He's chewed up all my chair legs. And my ottoman.
He's working on getting all the hair off my cat's tail.
He learned how to open the baby gate at the top of the stairs.
He's learned that he's tall enough to get on the counter where the cat's eat and steal their food.
Did I mention that he barks all the time? For no reason? At all?
He's great.
Sounds about right.
I think this was about the age where I gave up--lol Tessa 'broke' me.
You can only deal with so much stubbornness.
And the worst part is--you know THEY know what you're asking for, they just choose NOT to. It's maddening.
Around that time, I started to rationalize things--like --I'd not want to sit 3 times for a treat--it's demeaning--who do I think I am??? Why would I keep asking her to do such a degrading thing? LOL
I'm guessing the golden retriever 1/2 is responsible for Tessa not being barky. That's the one issue I do not have. If she barks in the house, it is a rarity & there is a reason.
I kept an ample supply of driftwood & sticks IN the house til she was about a year old. Had to use a shopvac to clean, but it saved my furniture. Now all sticks & wood are "outdoor toys".
Cats now have to eat in a gated off hallway landing at the top of the bsmt stairs. I will NEVER be able to leave access to the catfood--Catfood is Tessa's favorite-especially if she sees me grab it from their bowl for her...I put some on her dogfood as a topper lol.
She's still not fully trustable outside of the crate while I am at work, but I can leave for a couple of hours without her being crated.
Latest casualty was the vacuum cleaner. I took it apart to clean it & she ate the filters & plastic parts & a few attachments.
When she was boarded, she out did even some of the retrievers with retrieving. Did it every time. She was such a show off.
Bring her home-take her to the park-she runs after ball once, grabs it & lays down *also like she ran a marathon*
Enter stranger playing fetch with his dog--Tessa MUST show him she can fetch too...
Oh, & my xbf is her favorite person. We broke up long before I got Tessa, so it's not like she misses him or something.
Even now, still, she just goes crazy for him when he comes over-whole butt wiggling wags-every time. He does nothing special-isn't slipping her bacon, isn't even a dog person. It's ridiculous. And I know he gets off on it!
I can't even be jealous of it anymore, I've just resorted to knowing that if he ever wants to stalk or kill me, it'll be no problem.
Perhaps my happiest moment was recently, we walked to the park & she did not fetch for him...Hah! he's starting to become old news!
What is wrong with these dogs?
