Anyone know about Merckle's Hilltop Mastiffs in Ohio?

It'd be cool if you refrained from name calling, especially having just joined the forum.Other people who have a dog from Merckles have managed to share their opinion in a respectful way. It's all a matter of opinion and the information that's been given to us, as well as personal experiences. That being said, they are obviously well enough known that the opinions shared here are not going to make or break them. So if you do have a dog from them great! We'd love to hear your experiences and about your dog!

Kai - I'm sure that what you typed in your first three posts in this MB made sense to you, but I'm not sure they did to everyone else (including me).

Please try again?

I have been to Merkles farm she does have several Mastiffs. More then the site shows but 1 thing I did notice all were in great health. I have 2 puppies(around 7mths) from her and havent had an issue with either. Both are very health girls and growing. If you have any questions about her farm I will glady answer what I can.

Woah Cindy.
That link was heart wrenching. :( that's terrible!!!!
It seems there are a lot of mixed reviews here.

My opinion? I would never buy from a breeder who has multiple litters.
Never. I'm sometimes even weary if both dam and sire are on site!
Regardless of the price, multiple litters is a HUGE ted flag for me, and ultimatrly a deal breaker. My two cents.

Wouldn't buy from her!

I have had bullmastiffs for 20 years-my first was from a BYB and was the best, healthiest of the 3 I have had(I didn't know any better-just looked in the paper) The second two came from a breeder but I didn't know to check for health tests. Both parents on the property and we wanted siblings(boy/girl). Boy was monorchid-no issue for us but she wanted to breed him back into her kennel. We had him neutered and that was the end of the relationship with this breeder. In the first year we had the "twins" both of their parents died(breeder said dad was killed by a copperhead snake, the mom was killed by a bobcat).Today I think that was so strange. Anyway both our babies died of cardiac related issues. Today, the breeder I went with tested joints and heart for generations. Had to go several states away and wait a while. The price was less of an issue vs health tests and litters per dog.

We got our Mastiff there. It's nothing more than an outdoor puppy mill. We were shocked to find 100+ mastiffs in pastures like a horse would be. The owner was not there, her son was and he gave us our puppy, which didn't look anything like the puppy we had looked at in pictures. When I inquired about it, he offered to show me the other puppy they had which was a male and in a box in the garage. Also in the garage were large wooden crates THAT HAD ANIMALS IN THEM and he said that those were their "whelping boxes". I don't know how they would know what puppy came from which parents as they are all running around outside. When I asked about the amount of dogs the boy said, "yea, my mom is kind of like a hoarder but with dogs" My husband wanted to leave the dog, but I couldn't do it. She's "full grown" now and only weighs around 110 lbs. People often mistake her for a boxer, or a mix breed. She was also sick when we got her, but I was offered to "switch her out" for a different puppy. She's three now, but every time I look at her I think of that place… the website is very deceiving. =(

What type of person would post something like this on a public fourm, I have never met you and for you to come to my home and put something like this on a public site speaks volumes about you, How rude, I have had several people come to my home to buy a puppy that have seen this post and they came to the conclusion that you must be another breeder just trying to bash me, How sad I will pray for you.

They did not buy the puppy from me, they bought the puppy from my daughter and she gave them their money back. I don't know why I was brought into this.

I moved this thread to the Breeder Discussion forum.

Please be civil and respectful.

Well now I know why this thread is still available this Fourm is run by a bunch of breeders that try to make their competition look bad, Sorry if this is all you can come up with after 30 years of Merckles Hilltop being a breeder, So sad

Instead of flinging insults at these members, don't you think, as a professional breeder, you should promote your business in a positive way?

If you insult the members again, you are going to be banned. So, be nice or be banned.

Not a breeder, and when I do make that decision, it won't be mastiffs!

Actually there are very few breeders on the forum, just genuine lovers of mastiffs, who are here to give advice and help each other when we can,
Why after nearly 4 years is it such a problem, please stop throwing insults at members or you will be banned,
