Brindle or Fawn

Which color do prefer? I only see Fawn Filas in shows today, something about lighter colors make it seem the dog has more ossature...
I'm prety surprised seeing how popular Fila is becoming outside Brazil, here it dropped in the rank but it still is the fifth more popular guard dog behind four germans.

I love fawn dogs! Look so beautiful with that colour :)

The brindle colour I'm not too fond of...

Are either of these your dogs ?

That red fawn make him look like a coon hound.

I like them both. :)

Denna's our first brindle, and I'm really loving how it looks - but others find it intimidating. If you're after a more intimidating look... the brindle wins, hands-down.

I have both and cannot decide which is my favorite. I love Flower's shade of red, but Maddie has a beautiful brindle. hmmmm IMG_0856.jpgIMG_0911.jpgIMG_0630.jpgIMG_0769.jpg

Does anyone have a black Fila? Black is a color that caused much controversy between the breeders.

Cafib broke up with CBKC because CBKC accepted the color, claiming it was a fruit of mix with Great Dane or Neapolitan Mastiff. While the breeders that accepted said it was a heritage of the portuguese molosser Cão de Castro Laboreiro, that was one of the breeds that contributed to the Fila....

I like brindles but they dont usually win at shows.. if you want a show dog (cbkc) then get a fawn dog as they have a better chance...... Cão de Castro Laboreiro is now part of the Fila Brasileiro???? hey, whatever. When they start coming out with the merle fila then they can say that the border collie was part of the fila too... long lost facts.. they are great, arent they, lol.

Well I know at least three theories about Fila Brasileiro origins... That the breed descend from Fila de Terceira, That the breed descend from Old English Bulldog and English Mastiff are the more accepted, but with portuguese dogs coming to Brazil the Cão de Castro Laboreiro and the Cão de Gado Transmontano that were used in Portugal to drive cattle and protect from wolfs by peasants would be used here in a similar function.... They say Fila Brasileiro got the dark brindle and black color from Cão de Castro Laboreiro and the white colar and socks from Cão de Castro Transmontano....

It is hard to trace a breed origin and I don't really care much, but here is a photo of a Fila Brasileiro wining a show when the breed was oficialized

Long lost facts? AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. More like a select groups opinion's being passed as fact. Both sides have "facts" and neither sides "facts" are facts. If they were fact their would be no debate.

Well, some of these things I read it in this blog http://racasbrasileiras.blogspot.com.br/2012/01/fila-brasileiro.html
I
t has the text translation in english below the main text, but it is awful...

Anyway! I always prefered brindle, but if were to have a couple I would have a male brindle and a fawn female. since I think dark colors goes well with males and lighter colors are more feminine. I even plan to have a black Corso and a fawn or blue female...

Fila4me, I'm really bummed. I thought this one was going to catch fire this morning. I guess I will have to wait for the overnight crowd to get a few drinks in them. LOL

LOL. Maybe I shouldn't have mentioned the black Fila, since I'm new here only now I saw an older thread with this discussion....

I wouldn't buy a black Fila because they are inferior, but I only think they are inferior because they are less bred. Since the best breeders don't like the black Fila, the best filas are not black.
