Slow and steady is what it is all about! Lincoln has it figured out. It is so against the rules to put a weight update without a new photo. :)

What's he on now?

He was on Orijen Six Fish for 13 bags when we brought him home. Then we switched him to Earthborn Costal Catch and he just never seemed to like it as much as Orijen. He'll wait to eat his breakfast until 3pm some days and he never used to do that before. Maybe we made the switch at the exact time that his metabolism changed (slowed down) or something and it's just a coincidence that he's not eating as much. Who knows, but I'm thinking of switching back to see if he truly likes it better.

Also, after a few bags of Coastal Catch I switched it up to the one that has Lamb in it (the purple bag). He ate it just fine, but he also seemed to possibly be allergic to it. The inside of his ears got really red and even scabbed up because he was scratching so much, he would scratch all around his head even cutting himself under the eye and then his front paws are really, really red between the toes and he gnaws on them all of the time. He had a bag of the Lamb and towards the end of the bag is when all of this happened. Then he was on a bag of the Coastal Catch again and everything was just going back to normal, but I already had another bag of Lamb so we just switched back to it and he's turning red again starting last night. I'm thinking of tossing the rest of the Lamb (or donating to Humane Society assuming they accept open food).

The only other thing is that we gave him his heartgaurd yesterday too so maybe he's allegic to that. Unfortunately both the lamb and heartgaurd were at around the same time each month.

^Sorry for the rambling somewhat uncohesive drabble above. Didn't really think about how I was organizing it, just wrote what I was thinking.

Interesting. I've had Mira on Earthborn since encountering the forum and hunting down someone who could order it. We did Coastal Catch for six or seven months, then switched to Great Plains. She eventually started being picky about when she ate as well, so I just let it be. If she's hungry, she can eat. If she isn't, she can eat when she is. I figure she's probably a better judge of it than I am now that she isn't puppy-gobbling everything in sight.

Yeah, I may go back to Orijen and if he's still picky and acting the same as the Earthborn then I'll assume it's just him and not the food. If so, I'll probably go back to Earthborn since it's still a great food and almost half the cost of Orijen.

He still goes crazy for treats and bones, so I know he still has an appetite.

Also, I'm not doing it hoping he starts gaining five lbs a week or anything, he just definitely seemed to enjoy it more than Earthborn.

OK, I didn't get a picture, but I did take a short vid yesterday. Lincoln wanted to play, but he'd just eaten so I didn't want to egg him on too much and get him jumping around with a full belly.

Also, I'm always pissed when people record videos vertically instead of horizontally, so now I can be pissed at myself. No idea what I was thinking. Drr.....
