So I took Mystic to the vet yesterday for her rabies shot and she has some "wounds" on her chin. The moose is now 85.3 lbs at 6 months. The Dr said that it is basically puppy acne and gave me Cephalexin 500mg and told me to use stridex pads or baby wipes on her chin. Has anyone ever dealt with this? I have personally never heard of it or owned a dog that had it.

IMHO I would not give the antibiotic for simple puppy acne. Are you using stainless steel bowls? Just keep the area dry and see if that helps.

Big hugs to mystic!

I do but for some reason she likes to drink out of the cats plastic bowl. so just try to keep the area dry and clean?

Kryten has it off and on. When it flares up I just clean his chin with a blend of apple cider vinegar and water for a few days.

Consider getting the cat a stainless bowl, too. Wash the bowls everyday with soap and water. Don't just run water over the bowl and call it done, like i used to do. LOL Porous utensils are the worst thing for puppy acne. For a lot of dogs just doing the above will take care of the acne.

If it gets worse then lets take a harder look at it.

I will take a pic and upload it shortly. I honestly thought it was from her "landscaping" and she had rubbed it raw.

This shows some of Kryten's acne. He is a bad flare up likely due the amount of meds in his system. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1370479217.012799.jpg

Yes under the chin. Sorry spaz ass won't sit still long enough for a pic. I will try for a better one when she passes out. Thank you that is her new martingale that I got her.

Thanks Smokeycat, wow I'm a bad dog owner I didn't even know that was acne. I just figured it was part of my dog given the way they lay on the ground.

I didn't think anything of it until some of them started to bleed, then I went looking for answers.
